About this deal

degrees of freedom. In modern space sims with more dynamic spacecraft physics, control is more complex. And much different than in traditional atmosphere-based flight simulations. Ideal for VR: The X-56 places controls perfectly under your fingers where subtle distinctions in button feel and shape help you navigate the control set with ease So there's not a huge number of handy buttons, but on the base, there is not only a great deal to make up for it (including ones dedicated to flaps and throttle), but there's also the option to mode switch up to two levels with two functional modes and button shift. This gives the Raptor Mach 2 an edge, despite the buttons being a little awkward to get to if you've got your hands full, achieve 29 programmable actions

The mode switch will only function for buttons bound to the keyboard through the HOTAS software meaning, if you use a game interface to set buttons, it will not register the mode button. Additionally if the same button is set in game and in the HOTAS software you will get both inputs at the same time. You will spend upwards of 20 hours setting up your HOTAS keybindings profile unless someone shares theirs with you. Youtube makes it doable, but not easy. The hardest parts to figure out will be knobs and multidirectional controls which will be semifunctional if set in game. Trial and error i managed to get mine to work better in fact it doesn't do it anymore since i turned on chat on to tabs. Ergonomics*: some of the buttons are not placed well for long term usage. It's ok if you just need to hit every minute or so, but not as a 2 minute+ toggling spree. The hat controls on both controls are placed slightly out of alignment with my hands so that constant usage starts to hurt the thumb for both hands. The throttle is a bit better placed but sometimes difficult to move the 2 smaller hats due to tight spaces. The X52 feels much more "natural". This is my -1 reason for not being 5-stars The key elements are there. The detachable throttle is probably the neatest feature: given that you're going to need easy access to your keyboard for its extra buttons, being able to split these components around it is a definite advantage.Moving on to the Logitech X56 H.O.T.A.S.: it was loved by Windows Central and PC Gamer - two reliable sources that conduct their own in-depth testing. In fact, it was named "Good value full HOTAS setup" and "Ranked 2 out of 7" in their respective roundups, which points to it being a product worthy of consideration. I bought Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS right after it became available and I can only say I've been very happy with the product. Granted it's not as hefty as the x52 pro, but after the initial "getting used to it" stage I have nothing to complain about.

We found that the RGB lighting didn’t quite reproduce all of the color spectra accurately or consistently; especially white, which appeared as more pale blue, and yellow and orange looked greenish. Sometimes, some random actions just occurred during gameplay, such as opening the galaxy map and engaging the frame shift drive. Sometimes this happened when we first started playing, and at other times after a few hours of gameplay. An internet search pulled up threads about this. Seemingly the unit’s high-power draw could be the issue, even though we connected our Logitech X56 to an aftermarket USB 3.0 PCIe card. Whatever the cause, unplugging and re-plugging the USB cables fixes the issue; at least until the next time it happens.

On the other hand, the T16000M throttle does not have the benefit of a centre detent, ehich would be my only real wish for as an improvement.
