About this deal

The gatefold cover is slightly textured compared to later issues and has different upper-case only credits on inner gatefold. Listeners who appreciate the roots of heavy metal and appreciate the history of the genre will find immense value in this vinyl edition of Paranoid. The Kevin Gray Rhino pressing is another reissue option that has been praised for its sound quality.

Black Sabbath - Paranoid - (Vinyl LP) | Rough Trade

By absorbing every aspect of their stark environment and perhaps a horror story and film of the same name, Black Sabbath adopted a sinister, ominous image replete with occult themes and nightmarish lyrics; with Ozzy Osbourne at the helm and Tommy Iommi's signature slackened down-tuned guitars they would reinvent hard rock. Paranoid is the second studio album, first released September 1970 in the UK, with the USA release delayed to January 1971. Excellent pressing, not sure if I got a particularly good copy, but the nonfill issues others are reporting are almost nonexistent on my copy- perhaps a low amount in between tracks and in lead-in grooves, not nearly amount to distract from the music or affect the audio quality or listening experience in any way.The first (this release) and 2nd versions had band member and production credits in capital letters throughout. this time no scruffs at all, vinyl looks alright despite being a bit warped, plays well from start to finish, without major pops etc. The deluxe edition of Paranoid, celebrating its 50th anniversary, is available as a five-LP/four-CD set. and i cant find any other US pressing entered that has any notes of hand-written matrix etchings with "SIDE 1" or "SIDE 2" included.

Now with a massively successful US tour opening for sweet soul darlings Thee Sacred Souls behind him, 2023 is sure to be a propitious year for Daptone's newest signee. The album is lauded for its consistency and memorable riffs, which are especially evident on side one, containing three of the band’s most well-known songs. The band’s craftsmanship in creating an album that masterfully combined heavy metal with a touch of progressive rock and psychedelia solidified their place at the forefront of the genre. His full length debut on Daptone Records is equal parts raw feeling and elegance and exudes confidence and charm. Some deluxe editions offer remastered versions, like the 50th Anniversary of Paranoid, which includes two live sets from 1970. The sound quality of the Paranoid vinyl edition has been noted to be an improvement compared to older copies. Paranoid, released in 1970, refined Black Sabbath’s signature sound, which consisted of crushingly loud, minor-key dirges loosely based on heavy blues-rock, and applied it to a consistent set of songs with memorable riffs (AllMusic). Owning this masterpiece in its original format allows people to appreciate the timeless brilliance of Black Sabbath and the raw, authentic sound that this album encapsulates.

Its release in 1970 marked a significant leap forward for the band, showcasing their distinctive sound and powerful songwriting abilities. Similar German editions with the same catalogue number and same front cover, but differ from each other also by different rear sides. I don't own it, but I've heard from a couple of people here that the recent Rhino Vol 4 (the one that was on colored vinyl and is now on black vinyl) is terrible.

These tracks, among others, have gone on to become some of the most iconic heavy metal songs in history. Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Jalen perform live knows that he is one of the most captivating performers on today's soul scene. Its influence extends to multiple generations of heavy metal and rock bands, proving its lasting impact on the music landscape. When comparing original pressings of Black Sabbath’s Paranoid album to reissued versions, such as the one released as part of the “Black Sabbath The Vinyl Collection 1970-1978”, some may prefer the vintage sound of the original.
