About this deal

For some reason, Pro Breeze has neglected to put a cover on the top of the water tank, so when you pull it out to empty it (which is in itself awkward as there's no proper handle to remove it) the water sloshes around everywhere, potentially drenching your flooring. Whilst this dehumidifier is compact in stature, it is heavy, weighing in at 9.5kg. Pro Breeze have tried to make it as portable as possible by adding a fold-down handle to the top and built-in castor wheels to the base. Research your energy tariff and see if your electricity is cheaper at certain times, such as at night. If so, you could time it to come on during those hours. Alternatively, consider using it when your home is most likely to have high humidity levels, such as when you are showering, cooking or have the heating on. Most of us love to dry our laundry outside when the weather allows, but there are times when this simply isn’t an option. It can be really difficult to get clothes dry in wet or cold weather, and those of us living in flats may not have a suitable outdoor area for drying clothes. Aribio’s dehumidifier can move up to 12 litres of water a day, and has a dedicated laundry mode that will help dry your clothing even in wet, humid weather.

Battery run time: 20 minutes | Battery charge time: 120 minutes | Tank capacity: 100ml | Dimensions: 13 x 28 x 35.5cm | Suction nozzle width: 28 cm | Weight: ‎700 g Power: 12W | Noise level: 54dB | Max room size: 60m² What we like When it comes to drying laundry, this dehumidifier is designed to be kept close to the underneath of the laundry where it can assist gravity in removing the water from clothing. It's also important not to confuse the extraction rate with a dehumidifiers water tank capacity. As both are generally measured in litres or millilitres this can sometimes cause confusion.

If you're wondering how to get rid of mould in a poorly ventilated room, or trying to combat excess moisture or humidity inside the home, then a dehumidifier can be a useful tool in your arsenal.

Like me, some users also found the water tank capcacity too small considering the extraction rate that can be achieved per day, which left them having to empty it frequently. Verdict The increased moisture can then in turn be bad for your house and your health, as the water vapour condenses on cold surfaces such as windows and walls, and mildew and mould begins to grow. This is a particular worry for anyone with health problems such as asthma or allergies. How does a dehumidifier work and what does it do? Beyond that, maintenance-wise, you just need to keep the dehumidifier clean. Unplug the machine on a regular basis and just run over it with a damp cloth, don’t use abrasive cleaners that could damage the plastic. The sleek and modern unit with navy blue exterior stands out from the crowd in all the right ways, and whilst it doesn't have built-in wheels like most dehumidifiers of this size, the integrated carry handle and mid-weight build make it relatively easy to transport from room to room. If you want a more compact build, then there is also a 12L and 14L model available.

6. Best dehumidifier for large spaces: ElectriQ 25L Dehumidifier

It is worth noting, however, that whilst the laundry mode will dry clothing faster, it does tend to use more energy. Since they have very few moving parts, the peltier models should in theory be the most reliable and the longest lasting. Having to jerk the water tank pretty hard to remove it causes more problems once you realise the water tank doesn’t have a cover. That’s fine if the tank is half full, but when you’ve got a full tank of water, you to have to be very careful it doesn’t splash everywhere when pulling the tank out of the dehumidifer, and then again watch you don’t spill it on the way to emptying it. For comparison, at current energy costs, the 12L MeacoDry Arete One Dehumidifier uses around 4p of electricity per hour, and the Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy dehumidifier uses roughly 6p per hour. Not a massive difference in running costs, but worth bearing in mind before you snap up this dehumidifier purely based on its low energy claims. Noise levels

Simple and standard, the only additional feature is that you can choose between their four pre-set humidity levels to match your and your home's needs. All you’ll need to do is pop it in a corner and let it run, it costs around nine pence an hour so that it won’t break the bank, and when it is full, the dehumidifier will automatically shut off to avoid spillage. The only downside is that at 47dB, it is between a whisper and a regular voice; it is a little noisier than its competitors, so we recommend keeping it out of the bedroom at night. First up, it's worth making clear that this small dehumidifier has a low extraction rate compared to many others on our list. The ProBreeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier can extract just 0.5L of moisture from the air per day. For comparison, the lowest extraction rate offered within the MeacoDry Arete One range is 10L of moisture extraction per day. According to learnmetrics.com, a dehumidifier uses between 300 watts and 700 watts of energy per hour, depending on size and efficiency. That’s not much - more than your fridge but less than things like kettles and hair dryers. What's the best dehumidifier to buy?One surprising thing about dehumidifiers is that they can be very effective at drying clothes, which is why some people use a dehumidifier rather than a tumble dryer. It is everything I hoped for. Extremely quiet and although tall. Takes up little space. I did have a small, insignificant issue which Hanna sorted out efficiently and effortlessly. Would 100 % recommend and would 100% use again.
