About this deal

Derek: I wear US9.5 in both shoes, though I probably fit a US9.0 best for the Magnify. MaxRoad is definitely a much softer and smoother shoe. The upper also seems to breathe a little better. Where the Magnify wins is in the energy return of the forefoot; the shoe just feels snappier at faster paces, but the weight difference is significant and I definitely find it easier to maintain a faster pace in the MaxRoad than the Magnify. Another area where the Magnify shines is the outsole. The Magnify has a much grippier and more stable outsole than the MaxRoad. Overall, I think the MaxRoad is a more fun shoe to run in. MaxRoad wins. TPEE foam is great stuff with a pleasant and never sloppy softness and lots of energy return. I really enjoy this family of midsole foams with the Craft Pro Endur and many of the Xtep having a similar TPE foam which is a bit more flexible in nature and not quite as stable in feel as the TPEE here. Although the upper is well perforated and comfortable, the shoes run long, and I would recommend going a half size down. The upper is soft and expands well, so the tightness shouldn’t be an issue. Sam: A bright clean look that doesn’t overdo the white with the 3D print Spectra pattern of longitudinal lines providing subtle multi color depth while also delivering an array of very foot conforming support.

PUMA has only given us a few color options across most of the NITRO line, but they all worked pretty well and the Spectre colorway on our Magnify demo unit looks great. We’re hoping they’ll broaden the pallet as they move the lines forward. Sam: Puma has ruled outsoles in 2021 with great rubber and designs that work well with each model’s intended purpose. As we are looking at the bottom of the shoe, I think the longitudinal cutout Derek refers to could be somewhat deeper, broader or have a more substantial heel crash pad decoupling. While the forward flow from landing is stable and smooth at all paces a deeper groove might accelerate that transition and also soften the landings a touch . Some, however, felt lost in all the cush. One heel-striking tester felt the midsole wasn’t supportive enough over long stretches, and she desired a firmer platform to cup her heel. “Support and stability are of the utmost importance to me, and I felt as if they were compromised a bit because of the shoe’s narrowness and its extra foam underfoot,” she said. Temperature-Regulating UpperSam: A big part of the story with Magnify (and with all the new 2021 Puma racers and trainers) is value across the line. Puma has delivered truly state of the art rides, uppers, and outsoles at very fair pricing. From time to time carriers may deliver earlier or later, or on non working days however this is cannot be guaranteed nor should it be expected. Derek: At first glance, you would think this is a single density, all Nitro foam trainer. Actually it is a dual density setup, with the Nitro foam above, and a firmer more stable foam called Profoam Lite below. I don’t have any information on this foam, but it feels like compression molded EVA.

I headed out for an easy 4 mile run in the shoe on a damp lunchtime. It had been raining earlier in the day so the pavements were wet but the PUMAGRIP rubber outsole gripped them well. This is the same grip that you’ll find on the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 2 which I’m a fan of. Skratch Recovery, Coffee Flavor:Mental and physical boost post run. Coffee flavor is excellent and goes great straight into a fresh brewed cup Derek: I wear US9.5 in both shoes, though I probably fit a US9.0 best for the Magnify. Both shoes have similar underfoot feels, with Magnify feels softer at the forefoot. I think the Triumph fits me a little better overall, but the Magnify has the more interesting midsole feel. It’s a bit of a wash, but this is one of those cases where (especially in the middle of a long training run where you are tired and you just want to get it over with) you really want a simple fit where you are not constantly thinking about where you are feeling pressure from the shoe. In that respect, even though the Magnify rides better, the Triumph 19 is just a more straightforward put on and forget about it shoe for me. Derek: I wear US9.5 in both shoes, though I probably fit a US9.0 best for the Magnify. Endorphin Shift has the smoother and faster transitioning geometry, but the Magnify has the more energetic and softer underfoot feel. Magnify also has a much better outsole in terms of grip and durability. If I were going for a steady faster long run, I would probably go with the Endorphin Shift, but for a slower more controlled effort, I think the Magnify is the more forgiving option. Asics Kayano 28 Review, New Update - Guest reviewer Ryan Flugaur adds his thoughts to the big Kayano changes. Softer, smoother, and more fun than ever before

Weight is more than OK at about 10.3 oz / 292 g US9 but full outsole coverage, plush collars and built up heel counter may add more weight than required to do the job. Sam The Magnify Nitro SP has a nitrogen-infused midsole to promote high rebound and durability. Lakota Gambill Ultraspire Fitted Race Belt:The best way to carry your phone and goods on the run. No bounce and various sizes for waist. (Also recommend the Naked belt) If you prefer a softer yet lively ride that moves along for your moderate pace daily training, recovery and long runs Magnify 2 is a great choice. You will pile on the miles in great comfort and step lively as you do so. It is also a solid choice for the beginner runner who is looking for a versatile, protective and fun shoe. What PUMA has done here has really challenged us because we can decide if we like Velocity or the Magnify better for those long easy runs. Giving us that little extra cushion while still remaining responsive and comfortable, we are definitely leaning toward the Magnify NITRO. If we had to give it one gripe, then it would be that that toebox can skew a little narrow and that will definitely depend on individual foot, PUMA should open that up just a touch. More color variety would be a huge win as well.
