About this deal

These shrubs are tough old blighters and can be grown in all aspects, North, East, West, South facing & on any soil type apart from constantly wet ones. On a well drained soil keep watered until established. To keep the plants rounded habit, prune in late winter or early spring. Apply 5cm of well rotted manure, or other organic matter to encourage new growth. Goes well with Use our easy-to-use spreader settings table to set Scotts® and EverGreen® spreaders correctly when using our products. Where to use Cherry Laurel are fast growing shrubs reaching an eventual height of 40ft. They can easily be kept in shape with a bit of regular pruning at the height and width required.

This lawn feed is particularly effective when used in the autumn through until spring for ridding your lawn of worm casts too, as the slimy remnants can make mowing the grass rather muddy and slippery.

But the perfect use of the Mediterranean Cypress is as a hedge. And the best part is: it doesn’t need pruning! It holds its shape regardless. Leaves are small, leathery and dark green. Perfect as a foil for colourful planting in front . Foliage and flowering Although it depends on the type of lawn you have and what condition it’s in, an easy rule to adhere to is feeding once each season or even just once a year with a slow-release fertiliser. If you opt for the former, your feeding schedule might look like this: If you’re looking for a lawn fertiliser that also does a great job at eliminating pesky weeds and moss, go with Guard-en-Force. A kilo of this stuff will cover (and get rid of) around 500 square metres of moss. Grown for its big, bold, evergreen, funky foliage, Fatsia japonica will grow to an eventual size of 2m x 2m. They seem to be a bit of a ‘marmite’ moment with gardeners either loving or hating them. But I love them especially when I need the best plants to provide architecture in a shaded garden planting scheme. Foliage & flowers

Dead head flowers after flowering and remove up to a maximum of a third of the foliage with hedge shears. This will prevent the shrub from becoming leggy and produce a mass of fresh growth. A3: In ideal conditions germination starts in 4 days with a small root appearing soon followed by the grass blade. If the soil is cooler germination will take longer, maybe up to 28 days. The Nellie Stevens Holly is a nature-lover’s delight. This shrub boasts a pyramidal shape and vibrant clusters of red berries, which attract birds and wildlife in their many. The French White does best in a partially shaded part of the garden. It will cope with deep shade but will flower less. It can be grown in all soil types, chalk, clay, sand & loam. A moist well drained soil is preferred but will be drought tolerant once established.

The best lawn feed you can buy in 2023

A4: Until testing has been done to ensure the safety and efficacy of using Evergreen Extreme Green Lawn Food Concentrate with a sprayer we cannot advise its use in this manner. We advise using a watering can as directed in the instructions. As they are commonly used as hedging it is not often you get to see this shrub flowering as the flowering buds are normally cut off. Such a shame as this shrub produces the most wonderful, delicate scented flowers in Spring followed by red berries later in the year. Foliage and flowering
