About this deal

In general, Hennessy contains 40% ABV. It is a type of brandy that holds high alcohol content. Some contain higher but not so much of a difference. When bottled, Hennessy contains 80 proof. While other spirits can be made with inexpensive products like wheat, barley, or other cheap grains and products, cognac requires the premium ingredient of grapes grown in a very specific place. In addition, cognac features blends of multiple types of fermented product varying in age. Simply put, cognac is expensive because it is made from expensive things. The color red symbolizes the energies and forces involved in creating VSOP Privilege. Green is about the origin of the cognac - nature and the fruit. And blue is the dreamscape of a sensory journey and the experience of tasting VSOP Privilege.

Shanghai-born artist, Guangyu Zhang, is certainly a rising star. He studied at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, and also in the UK at Central Saint Martin’s College. He was selected by Saatchi Art as one of the ‘Best of 2014’ artists, as well as being on their ‘One to Watch’ list. His work has been displayed around the globe, including at the Tate Britain in London, and at solo exhibitions throughout Hong Kong and China. For this 2018 XO limited edition, Marc Newson has used a subtle gold color with hues of rose, to create a harmonious whole of light, design and assemblage. The result is a dynamic, streamlined variation on the decanter’s traditional shape that breaks with conventions, giving it a wholly unexpected twist. As distinctive as a work of modern architecture, the design with the new rose gold elements amplifies the blend inside. Created by admired Cellar Master Yann Fillioux, the eaux-de-vie that make up the blend have been aging in 250 handmade, specially commissioned 250 liter Limousin oak barrels. Before the eaux-de-vie were placed in these, they had already been aged for at least a decade under ‘optimum conditions’. The Paradis exemplifies the beauty of simplicity; it is a refined Cognac that is certain to enrapture your senses on many different levels. Its floral character makes it the perfect starting point for those who wish to dip their toes into the fascinating world of Cognac for the first time. This is certainly a well kept secret of the Hennessy family and is one of a particularly precious blend. This is the first of the Hennessy Paradis collection, of which others editions have followed suit over the years such as the Hennessy Paradis Impérial and the Hennessy Paradis Horus. A History of Hennessy The 12th January 2012, saw the unveiling of Hennessy Beauté du Siècle, an exclusive cognac produced to celebrate the centenary year of Kilian Hennessy, the sixth generation of the Hennessy family after the founder, Richard Hennessy.Hennessy cognac is one of the most famous drinks because of its unequaled flavor. Its popularity can also be because of its alcohol strength which is quite high. A standard Hennessy alcohol content is at 40% ABV, which is one of the highest alcoholic beverages in the liquor market. Marc Newson said of the design: “For me, the straight lines really highlight the strength of the iconic shape of the Hennessy X.O decanter. When they catch the light, they magnify the blend – its color and sensorial qualities.” Another affecting factor is aging. The time spent on wooden casks allows the alcohol to rest. Meaning it will mature and it will mellow down. It does not necessarily lessen the alcohol but the burn. It makes the drink smoother as they age. Do Mixers Affect Intoxication? As we have seen, cognac does have a higher price point than many spirits on the market. However, the time, ingredients, and creativity involved in the process explain why we should expect to pay a little more when searching for a good cognac. His passion is for innovative design, manufacture and vision, and, as he says, “to illuminate and develop the future”. Of his Hennessy creation, Tom said, “The Hennessy XO decanter is a timeless subject that I wanted to deal with in an original and modern manner. It’s a real collector’s item in itself”. The decanter was created using an advanced technique that allows a mosaic of crystal and reflected light. Each copper-colored, crystal-cut facet was designed to mirror the quality of the cognac contained within.

John Maeda is a leading global digital and artistic visionary, with a goal that reflects that of Hennessy: A fervent desire not to be alone in their respective industries, but to be remembered worldwide. What makes the VSOP even more exclusive is the unique look of the bottle. Maeda’s work with his colleagues is a self-explanatory example of how art encroaches on technology. At the same time, the boundaries between the two areas are blurring: John's creative spirit is combined with Giorgia's detailed illustrations and Kaki's musical ability to let a visual keyboard blossom. So, who is VHILS? Well, for those who know their artists, then his is likely to be a familiar name. The Hennessy Master Blend No3 is the first in the range to be created by 8th generation cellar master of the house, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde. And it’s purposefully nothing like the first two in the series, as each one boasts its own unique taste profile. Take for example Hennessy XO Exclusive designed by Marc Newson. This Cognac bottle is best recognized by its ‘corrugated’ effect that gives it a modern twist on a French Cognac classic.

Hennessy Master Blender No4: This rich, single-batch cognac is the fourth release in the Master Blender’s Selection series, personally crafted by 8th generation Master Blender Renaud Fillioux de Gironde. The Hennessy Master Blender’s Selection No4 has been matured in red oak, which means the casks used for the blend have previously held cognac and are of a significant age - which is evident from their dark, reddish color. For the ultimate degustation, it should be served in a glass tumbler over ice, or at -15ºC which is also known as ‘givré’. If you are somebody who enjoys a distilled beverage, this is a great option as the cold temperature reveals unique bouquet of aromas and tastes, and is recommended to be enjoyed at dessert time. Peter Saville has become an icon due to his legendary artistic vision and desire to push boundaries through his work. For the 2015 Hennessy VSOP Privilege limited edition, Saville explored chromatography to draw attention to individual components of a complex across the color spectrum. With his technique of data visualization, his Hennessy design reveals an architectural, emotionally resonant imagery of color, contrast, finish and texture. Each of the 150 limited-edition bottles (one for each year since the launch of the original Hennessy XO) are numbered and imprinted with Gehry’s signature and would make the dream bottle for Cognac collectors alike.
