A triple tree ("triple clamp" (US) or "yoke" (UK)) attaches the fork tubes to the frame via steering head bearings, which allow the fork assembly to pivot from side to side, and therefore steer the motorcycle. Most bikes have upper and lower triple trees, providing two solid clamping points that keep the fork tubes parallel while also connecting the forks to the frame via the steering head bearings. Other considerations when selecting a telehandler include space restrictions, boom size, attachment availability, and terrain. To ensure safe and efficient telescopic handler use you should always consult carefully with your machine supplier, and refer to load charts. Different telescopic handler attachments Keep in mind that you will not be able to lift a load that is the telehandler’s maximum lift capacity all the way to its maximum reach/height. This is likely to put too much strain on the machine, which increases the risk of accidents and damage. Every telehandler will come with its own guidelines on lifting different loads, so be sure to follow instructions on this front. These guidelines are developed through testing, so they exist for a reason, and you should never question their accuracy. Understanding your telehandler

Axle path is only one of several parameters when designing a linkage fork. Three design mistakes that have doomed most linkage forks: anti-dive. Telescopic forks have roughly -30% anti-dive (30% pro-dive), so there's no need to go all the way to 100% AD, especially when high AD introduces other issues. A variety of fork arrangements have been tried during more than one hundred years of motorcycle development, several of which remain available today.A motorcycle fork connects a motorcycle's front wheel and axle to its frame, typically via a yoke, also known as a triple clamp, which consists of an upper yoke joined to a lower yoke via a steering stem, a shaft that runs through the steering head, creating the steering axis. Most forks incorporate the front suspension and front brake, and allow the front wheel to rotate about the steering axis so that the bike may be steered. Most handlebars attach to the top clamp in various ways, while clip-on handlebars clamp to the fork tubes, either just above or just below the upper triple clamp. To stiffen the suspension, manufacturers add pressurized air through a valve at the top of the fork. Some forks have a flexible air tube between both fork tubes to balance the air pressure in both forks. Modern fork tubes employ a screw to compress the fork spring to increase or decrease its pre-load. Telescopic Fork Telescopic Fork: Damping A single-sided front swingarm suspension was used on the Yamaha GTS1000, introduced in 1993. The GTS used the RADD, Inc. front suspension designed by James Parker. A single sided girder fork was use on the German Imme R100 motorcycle between 1949 and 1951, [9] and the Vespa scooter has a single-sided trailing-link fork. More recently, between 1998 and 2003, the ItalJet " Dragster" scooter also used a single-sided swingarm suspension, though unlike the GTS1000 there was no upper control arm; the upper part of the suspension on the Dragster served only to transmit steering input. Adaptable to various sectors including construction, logistics, agriculture, and recycling, the JCB Teletruk excels in diverse applications. Its forward-reaching telescopic arm, coupled with a compact turning radius and height, makes it an ideal choice for unloading delivery vans and accessing containers effortlessly. Teletruk Features

Will you only be using the telehandler in sporadic cycles to lift light loads? Or will you use it to shift heavy loads over long distances? In the case of Cathro and Minnaar, I think the pieces were in place to achieve nearly modern performance, and the limiting factor was the boldness and patience for riders and manufacturers to get far outside their comfort zones and test radically different bikes. There may have also been some differences in DH courses that didn't favour increased stability as clearly as current courses, but I don't think that's a sufficient explanation, as 2000s DH courses weren't any more slow and janky than modern enduro courses. Maybe a full-on modern DH bike would've been slightly overkill for the courses of the time, but modern enduro bikes aren't far off modern DH bikes.BMW R60US with conventional telescopic fork Telescopic fork in upside down design, with stanchions at the bottom.

The hub-center steering as developed by Ascanio Rodorigo, on a concept associated to Massimo Tamburini is a complex front swingarm alternative system that entails suspension and steering, as seen in projects such as the Bimota Tesi, and Vyrus motorcycles. TCS (Travel Control System): Anti-dive system with variable damping. TCS was introduced on the FZ 400 R (1984, only for the Japanese market). a b Wilson, Hugo (1995). "The Directory of Motorcycles". The Encyclopedia of the Motorcycle. London: Dorling Kindersley. p. 241. ISBN 0-7513-0206-6. He’s covered the length and breadth of Britain and as far afield as Novgorod in Russia, Bahrain and Azerbaijan. He’s instructed in all types of environment and that’s what makes him so good. Any application, he’s really confident with all of them: Forward reach– most smaller telehandlers have a maximum forward extension of around 10 feet. Larger models, on the other hand, can reach lengths as much as 45 feet in some cases, which can be really useful in certain situations.

Motorcycle suspensions are designed so that the springs are always under compression, even when fully extended. Pre-load is used to adjust the initial position of the suspension with the weight of the motorcycle and rider acting on it. For many years, fork dampers were “atmospheric,” meaning that unpressurized damper oil partly filled each fork leg to keep the damping chamber submerged.

Kooi Telescopic Forks extend and retract hydraulically. Telescopic Forks (often referred to as Reachforks) provide a unique and innovative solution designed specifically to reduce operational costs. TRAC (Torque Reactive Anti-dive Control): Developed by Honda, this is a simple mechanical system which is completely contained in the front suspension. The front brake caliper is mounted on a hinge, and uses the torque created in the braking action to operate a valve in the fork, which inhibits the flow of oil during braking. This system was fitted to a number of motorcycles, most notably the Goldwing series from 1983 through 2000, the Pacific Coast, CB1100F, CB1000C, and VFR750F.Some motorcycles allow adjustment of pre-load by changing the air pressure inside the forks. Valves at the top of the forks allow air to be added or released from the fork. [6] More air pressure gives more pre-load, and vice versa. On many shaft-drive motorcycles the drive shaft is contained in one of the long sides of the swingarm. Notable examples include all post-1955 BMW models prior to BMW's use of the single-sided swingarms, Urals, many Moto Guzzi twins, the Honda Goldwing, the Yamaha XS Eleven, and the Yamaha FJR1300. There are many attachments available for telehandlers, each designed for specific tasks, many of which are industry-specific. It can sometimes be hard to ascertain which is the right attachment for the job. Think about what’s required in the project you are undertaking, and what you aim to achieve at the end of it. Quality telehandler models will emphasise durability and versatility and will have a good range of attachments available to ensure no job is beyond its capabilities. Outside of work Kelvin loves to relax and socialise with people but also has a passion for flying his drone quadcopter, taking videos and pictures of scenic areas.
