About this deal

Two green tiles played at [C1] and [C4]. Although the tiles were not played next to each other, they were played in a single line and at least one of the tiles was played adjacent to tiles already laid down. Player scores four points for the green line [C1:C4] and three points for the circle line [C4:E4]. Making a line of 5 tiles might be nice in the short term, but you’ll regret it if anybody at the table has the missing 6 th tile to finish the line. Trading Away Tiles The object of the game is to score more points than your opponents before the game ends. To score these points, you must match and place tiles from your hand on the board in lines with other tiles of the same shape or color. When you score a Qwirkle, score the lines you played that turn as usual. On top of that total, matching the full 6 tiles scores you 6 bonus points.

Qwirkle ! If at any time a player places or completes a line of six tiles, (remember all same colour OR all same shape), in addition to scoring six points for the six tiles, you get a bonus six points for completing a Qwirkle ! And this is in addition to whatever you score for any additional lines you add to. Honestly, if you want to do a little dance at this point or stretch your arms like a gladiator go right ahead, whatever works, just remember your opponents may reciprocate in like manner if they make a Qwirkle . It is possible to place six tiles to form one Qwirkle whilst adding to a line of five to form a second. On your turn, if you want, you can trade tiles. You simply set aside the tiles you don’t want and draw the same number from the bag, then add the discarded tiles to the bag. You will not score any points for this turn though so you will need to choose between possible a very poor turn, where at least you will score something or gamble or getting more useful tiles so you can make up the loss on hopefully your next turn. The Scoring Two 8-point star tiles played at [A1] and [B1]. Player scores three points for the 8pt star line [A1:C1]. One blue circle tile played at [E4], continuing both shape (circle, from [D4]) and color (blue, from [E5]). Player has created two new lines, scoring two points for each: blue line [E4:E5] and circle line [D4:E4]. If that sounds simple, it’s because the concept is simple. There is a good depth of strategy the more you dive into the game, though, making it great to play over and over with the same group.Qwirkle Cubes has the same goals and gameplay mechanics as Qwirkle, but instead of tiles, the playing pieces are 90 six-sided dice; there are 15 dice in each of the six colors. All six shapes of a given color are printed on the six faces of a single die. Two square tiles played at [G5] and [G6]. Player scores four points for continuing the existing square line [D5:G5] and two points for the second square line [G5:G6]. Not knowing what each player has in their hand makes you second guess yourself multiple times. Do you risk adding a fourth or fifth tile to a row? What if someone makes a Qwirkle and gets a bonus? Will I win if I keep playing it safe? In truth, not being able to see your opponents’ tiles does mean analysis paralysis can creep in. This in turn can really slow the game down. A Night On The Tiles

Players score one point for each tile placed within a line, including existing tiles within the line. [3] This gives a player a big point boost, so be careful about possibly setting your opponents up to get a Qwirkle when making your play! On your turn you must play at least one card. You can start a new set, add to an existing set, or switch cards to make new sets. To add to an existing set, the cards you add must have the same attribute as all the cards in the existing set, and there cannot be duplicates. To switch cards around, add your card or cards to the play area and then rearrange, combining cards that are already in the play area with the cards you played. If you make a Qwirkle, take it out of the play area. Two green tiles played at [C2] and [C3]. Player scores two points for the green line [C2:C3], two points for the clover line [C2:D2], and two points for the diamond line [C3:D3].Qwirkle is a game I’ve played countless times. It is always a favourite to fill in some time and despite being an easy game to learn and play, it comes with depth and plenty of room for strategic play. The Basics Strategy Game: Qwirkle is the perfect game to hone player's tactical maneuvers, strategical planning, and forward thinking. This family game features a massive amount of choices, including 3 tiles each of 36 possible color-symbol combinations This is most of what you’ll be doing in a game of Qwirkle. Each turn builds off the first line put down by the first player, eventually turning the gaming surface into a sprawling network of colors and shapes. a b c d e " Qwirkle: Mix, Match, Score and Win!" It is simple to teach the basics and demonstrate examples of valid moves. It is simple enough for children to learn with the age recommendation being 6+. It is a great filler, ie a game you can easily play within an hour even with teaching the rules. The game is very re-playable, every game will be different because of combinations of tiles you draw and how the ‘board’ layout grows. Player interaction is there most turns because ideally you are always balancing what you can score now, what you might be able to score later and what opportunities your opponents might have by your placement. Every player, on their turn, is able to place 1 or more tiles on the table. To do so, the tile(s) they place must match either the color of the shape of the tile they’re being placed next to. Games that teach: Qwirkle is playable from early ages up, allowing young children and older individuals alike to develop and hone their spacial recognition, planning, and problem solving skills. Plan, win, and learn simultaneously Once hands are dealt, have everybody count up how many of their tiles share either a shape or a color. Rather than wooden tiles, the game can be played with six-sided dice ( Qwirkle Cubes) or cards ( Qwirkle Cards). In addition, the original game has two expansions: Qwirkle Select and Qwirkle Connect; these are sold bundled with the original game as Qwirkle Big Box or Qwirkle Trio.

How to play the game?

I’ve had a copy of Qwirkle for a few years now. Up until about two years ago, it was one of about three board games I possessed. Qwirkle is actually a Spiel des Jahres winner from 2011. Not only is it prestigious, but it has also sold over 4 million copies worldwide… 1.5 million more than Lemonade by Beyonce. One red 8pt star tile played at [D1]. Player scores four points for the 8pt star line [A1:D1] and five points for the red line [D1:D5].
