Review: A classic nursery rhyme that all children will enjoy with very cute illustrations to go along with it. The children were up so late to welcome Santa that they became exhausted, however, they continued to stay up until morning came. I enjoy the layout of the book, the picture is one whole page and then the corresponding words are placed on the opposite side. Sing-a-long together, and find all kinds of fun ways to enhance your other subjects and support core skills with our Twinkl Twinkle Little Star resources. The back of the book also includes a sheet of music with the lyrics of the shortened version of the children lullaby.Reaction: At first I was confused as to how this short song could be made into a book, but it did not disappoint! The printable still offers so many potential lessons that will cover a variety of preschool concepts. I would not use this book in my classroom because is very traditional and I feel that there are other books that represent the same idea that this book is trying to represent. The vivid images encapsulate the imagination of the reader in such a way as to make poetry fun and exciting exploration for new readers.

Analysis: This book is very beautifully written in poetic form to go in hand with the lyrical aspect of the children’s song. The books tells about how the star shinning shines on everything in the world helping to guide them. This book includes the lyrics of the song Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, and it's paired with beautiful illustrations to match. Two activities that would be appropriate for this lesson would be to have the students make a night sky with their name on stars and to have them learn about the solar system and then the second activity would be them learning the hand motions to follow along with the song. If the children are interested, this could also be an introduction to learning about the planets for informational texts or the places they would want to travel to.This book could be good used when the teacher is introducing stars and the skies into the classroom. The illustrations were also done by Iza Trapani and they were beautiful as on the journey the star showed her the world and the illustrations captured the awe that the young girl was feeling. Match the retelling cards with picture cards from the Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star rhyming activity. Gonna be honest, I totally only knew the first stanza of the song that was done on first page, did not realize that there were so many more lyrics to twinkle twinkle. I recommend this book for children and adults who appreciate soft, classic, traditional illustration.
