Another benefit of making sparkling water at home is that there are so many flavors and cocktails that you can use your machine to make. Our favourite feature of Aarke's carbonator was definitely the posh lever that allows you to control the pressure of the CO2 for a super smooth experience, and there are no splashes when you remove it. Just snap the bottle into the locking mechanism (you'll get a 1-litre bottle with your purchase), and press down for sparkling water (three pumps give you light carbonation; five is more intense). The more expensive Crystal is another favourite for those looking to ditch plastic completely - it uses a glass bottle. For the best results, it’s always a good idea to stick with carbonating liquids that have never contained gas.

As with our other sparkling water makers, Cobalt Blue has a seamless, stainless-steel enclosure, premium materials, overhauled internal safety valve system and a stainless-steel precision nozzle for a smooth, controlled spray beam. It's also worth noting that the carbonated water it produced felt and tasted identical to what we've been making at home for years. Our bottles have also been tested and approved according to the German LFGB standard, California Prop 65 and FDA CFR 21. Overall, the Aarke is just as effective as other standard machines on the market and arguably more fun to use. When we first tried this out, we pressed the button down for two seconds twice upon first use, but that wasn't enough for properly fizzy water, so we pushed the button down about six times which managed to give us a refreshing level of bubbles.
