About this deal

Her debut book, The Boy at the Back of the Class, was met with critical acclaim whose awards include the 2019 Blue Peter Book Award and Waterstones Children’s Book Prize. While I understand the need for books about the refugee crisis and to encourage kids to be emphatic, I don't feel this was the book. First, your class will draw a table like the one in the resource and complete each section with their different accounts of what has happened. I loved how easily they embraced Ahmet in their group and how they were there for him to help him out.

So they’re off to Buckingham Palace, with a list of questions for her and one special challenge: will she help more refugee children like Ahmet? The narrator, a 9-and-3/4-year-old British kid, along with a pack of friends, decides to befriend him: first with candy and oranges after school, then with soccer matches and displays of loyalty on the playground. The main theme which I took away from the book the message of not judging people before you know them. Although the name of the narrator is unknown until the very end, you are engaged with the character. As they learn more about him – that he is a Kurdish refugee from Syria and that he was separated from his family en route to Britain – their concern for him grows. The resulting madcap scenario is steeped in serious business, and it's an overall enjoyable, informative read. Best childrens book i have read really inspiring to follow your dreams and treat people the same as everyone else.

What I thought about the book was that it was all about kindness and support the reason why i thought this was because that a group of children were not bulling they wanted to be good people and to make this harmless boy part of there friendship group . It was heartwarming listening to their discussions about refugees, they were very empathetic and sympathetic towards the refugee boy in the book. Sometimes with children's books the kids don't come across as the age that is mentioned, but these kids were their age.Written from a child's perspective on the refugee crisis, it highlights the importance of friendship and kindness in a world that doesn't always make sense. Ten-year-old Aniyah and her little brother Noah find themselves living in foster care after the sudden disappearance of their mum. But after learning that Ahmet fled a Very Real War” and was separated from his family along the way, a determined group of his classmates band together to concoct the Greatest Idea in the World–a magnificent plan to reunite Ahmet with his loved ones. Fortunately, there is a set of instant friends waiting in his new classroom all ready and eager to make a big difference to his life.

An inspiring and sweet tale that will help children think about what it is to be a good person whatever your circumstances (the narrator is from a poor background with a single parent mum who struggles to make ends meet), and challenge prejudice and push for fairness, whenever possible. Our narrator and her friends come up with a plan to reunite Ahmet with his family, and this leads all of them into a very big adventure. Rauf spends a long time with her nine-year-old narrator before the plot gets going, and the opening of the story drags with unnecessary packing. But after learning that Ahmet fled a Very Real War and was separated from his family along the way, a determined group of his classmates bands together to concoct the Greatest Idea in the World–a magnificent plan to reunite Ahmet with his loved ones. Many Hamilton units come with interactive Grammar Presentations integrated into the overall teaching and textual context. Her titles include The Boy at the Back of the Class, The Star Outside My Window, The Night Bus Hero, and The Lion Above the Door. We build and maintain all our own systems, but we don’t charge for access, sell user information, or run ads.In Chapter 10 the reader learns about Ahmet’s journey from Syria and it becomes clear why his rucksack is so important to him. This book is a great book and I recommend it to all of you who show empathy because this book is about the boy at the back of the class who is a refugee who comes from Syria and his bag is ripped so that tells me something he's been on a journey from the Syria to London in this box so I recommend it to all of you who show empathy and empathy means like how you how somebody's feeling but you feel the same what do you think?
