About this deal

But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . I can completely envision Jacob’s big, boisterous family (one I wish I could be a part of), as well as Briana’s friends and their feisty hospital colleagues. Beat and Melody agree to appear on a livestreamed reality show in which they'll try to broker a reunion, hopefully to culminate in their mothers’ appearing on stage together on Christmas Eve. As different as each of their respective mothers, who all somehow managed to have a child with their very eccentric father, Augustus North. And get this, Gibson is holding off on his retirement so the new guy can get a shot at getting the chief position.

It’s always so gratifying to read a book that just consumes you fully and tugs on all of your heartstrings that it garners a 5-star rating that I don’t give out often. So much so that they both look forward to finding their hidden notes and sharing lunch together in a storage closet. Yours Truly deals with themes and topics such as mental health, chronic illness, female roles, communication or lack thereof, love and heartbreak, marriage and divorce, family, fear of abandonment, and loneliness and isolation. But one trouble-making pup who randomly jumps into her car with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. I get he was in her life for a long time, but again, she spent the whole time seeing how Jacob could be trustworthy, he literally has her go through his phone, changes his passcode to be the same as hers. She's the one who needed to step up and ask for his forgiveness for pushing him away and comparing him to obviously horrible guys. Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. The second thing that I loved was that when things went to the fake dating, the progression felt pretty natural.

then the miscommunication dragged…and then a new conflict was introduced/new parts of a tragic backstory were unlocked with only 40 pages left in the novel. Why would they have unprotected sex if she wasn't wanting to get serious with anyone, or why didn't they have that conversation? Not really, but Jimenez manages to pepper these adorable tropes throughout without making them feel too gimmicky.I'm all for feminism, but it's just so baffling when the MMC has proven to her time and time again how he's an amazing person, how devoted he was to her so why did HE need to grovel? I felt for Jacob every time he felt anxious, overwhelmed, socially awkward (in fact as someone also on the autism spectrum, I think Jacob might be as well) or just plain stressed out and unable to deal. Eventually, everything is tied up with a bow, but the easy resolutions for so many long-standing feuds and family dramas feel pat and unearned. His self absorbed, extra energetic girlfriend starts dating with his brother after only three months passed from their breakup! You can really tell how much their insight benefitted the story because it was almost painfully relatable at times.

But beyond the amazing characters and growth they demonstrated, I loved how Jimenez really made me think about what love is and what love looks like. The bakery has since gone on to win numerous Food Network competitions and has amassed an international following. Diary entries fancifully addressed to TV host Ellen DeGeneres serve as flashbacks to Lily’s teenage years, when she met her first love, Atlas Corrigan, a homeless boy she found squatting in a neighbor’s house. I love that she doesn't shy away from humanity and our messiness, and in fact does her best to share and highlight mental health, physical health, emotional health, and so on from a variety of viewpoints.I was full-on in love with this story for probably the first 50% to the point I was sure I'd be giving it 5-stars. Yours Truly is the latest contemporary romance book by Abby Jimenez and I’ve got my book review below to tell you what I think of this office romance.

Knowing she spoke with ER doctors and RNs makes the worlds she creates realistic and the situations plausible. As I approach 30 myself, I find that I definitely relate to these characters and their motivations so much more. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Admittedly, Jacob—who has social anxiety—doesn't make the best first impression on Bri, telling her off for bumping into him in the hall. Planning her best friend’s wedding is bittersweet for Kristen — especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. Then a month later she quit to move to her new husband’s tiny town in the middle of nowhere and open her own clinic, so Gibson came back.
