Do you have any book recommendations for primary school teachers who are teaching their children about the Stone Age? Although I don’t speak wolf-talk quite as well as Torak does, I know enough to make them comfortable with me and I’ve picked up all sorts of little ideas which have made the wolves alive in the stories.

It’s actually quite hard to give the storyline of the book without giving any spoiler of the previous books. A story in the vein of the greatest and oldest adventure epics, and importantly, one that raises many pertinent questions for our own life and times. I was standing in the bow, hypnotised by these thousands of birds rising into the sky as one, then settling to feed, then rising again – when suddenly a whale surfaced with a “PSHEW! In conclusion I think this book (and all of her other books in the series) are always gripping and fun-filled at every turn of the page! If you’ve read my recent list of brilliant adventure books for 8 to 12 year olds, you’ll know that we’re HUGE fans of Michelle Paver’s exhilarating six-book Wolf Brother/Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series (COAD).

Because the book jumped right into the action I didn’t know who any of the characters were or what time period the book was set in.

The sequel finds Torak once again battling demons (literally and figuratively) on a quest to save Renn who has mysteriously disappeared.It’s mostly about adding little touches: bringing out Torak and Renn’s feelings, tightening scenes, clarifying. Viper’s Daughter plunges you back into the Stone-Age world of Torak, Renn and Wolf: a world of demons, Hidden People and exhilarating adventure which has entranced millions of readers. Great review Stacey, this is the first time I have heard or seen this book and it really looks and sounds like an amazing middle-grade book. You could make a smaller one to drink out of – it’s really nice and light if you’re a hunter gatherer moving through the forest. Good news for those who are dying to know more about Apex Legend Valkyrie abilities you'll have to play with.

I’ve drawn on these for details of clothing, survival, the clans’ beliefs about life and death, healing and hunting. One of the things I love about Viper’s Daughter is that Michelle continues the brilliant educational value within the storylines. The first time pressing Valk’s ultimate will prepare her for launch, after which her allies can join her, and the second time will start the launch. The UK Wolf Conservation Trust is no longer open to the public but at the time of writing Torak is alive and well and living a very contented life.

When he doesn't have a controller in his hands, you can find Peter reading manga or at the gym getting in shape for his next cosplay. Torak and Renn are hunter-gatherers, which means that everything they need for survival – food, weapons, clothes, shelter – they’ve got to find or make from the natural world: animals, trees, plants, rocks. He’s also a spirit walker, intensely aware of how different creatures experience life; and of course he speaks wolf! Obviously these aren’t “facts” about the Stone Age, but by studying more recent hunter-gatherers, I’ve tried to create an authentic Mesolithic world. And to find her, Torak and Wolf have to track her north, out of the forest, beyond even the far north, to the edge of the world.
