About this deal

Laila did little to make me warm to her and struck me as something of a narcissist, who felt that everybody around her should accommodate her needs and wants. I highly recommend this book, especially if (like me) you’d like to escape these gloomy February days for a couple of weeks but can’t afford a 5* holiday atm… have a 5⭐️ read instead! We follow the lives of Laila and husband James who have come away to reconnect following a few struggles in their relationship and are unwittingly introduced to other guests at the luxury resort via Laila who is innocently enjoying ‘people-watching’.

The Other Guest by Heidi Perks | Waterstones

I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by Random Things Tours. This is an intriguing novel, and I liked the premise of the story and the setting in the beautiful islands of Greece. Leila and her husband are on holiday after another failed IVF attempt and we also have Em and her family at the resort. Em's behaviour frequently struck me as unconvincing, as someone who has just lost a young son in sudden and dramatic circumstances.

At just eleven years of age, Stella was not only leaving home she loved behind, but this would also mark the end of her friendship with Jill. Overall nothing bad can be said about this one, it had all the ingredients that I love but it just didn’t come into its own.

The Other Guest by Heidi Perks | Goodreads

I was very excited (maybe a bit too excited) to read The Other Guest so it’s a bit surprising that I found this an okay read, nothing wrong with it really, but there just wasn’t enough in it to get me really excited about it. Biography: Heidi Perks is the Sunday Times bestselling author of Now You See Her, which was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, Come Back for Me, Three Perfect Liars, The Whispers and The Other Guest. No matter how much Stella resisted, her parents made it clear that the family had no choice but to move.Heidi applied for an online creative writing course to sharpen her skills and get some tips to help her in her newfound career. I enjoyed the start of this novel which is why I was pushed to award two stars rather than just one.
