About this deal

Much, much later, in 2006, my brother-in-law told my son (coincidentally also aged ten) a very similar tale.

But in the middle of all the frivolity something unexpected happens and the dogs have to make a hasty exit… with or without the correct bottom.

The opportunity to work as a freelance illustrator and children’s book author came about as a result of my final year exhibition – after this I was contacted by publishers and agents, who I then went on to work with.

Written in rhyming verse with the most engaging illustrations this very funny picture storybook is sure to raise a giggle every time it is read! Once I got over the initial shock of what was pictured, I ventured on throughout the story and found it quite amusing. The hall caught on fire and with haste they escaped, they mixed up the bottoms, what an awful mistake! At the end of the day, if it really wasn't appropriate then I doubt very much it would've been published at all, let alone win the Roald Dahl Funny Prize!so when they went to the park they sniffed everybody's bottoms to know they have swapped bottom by accident.

He is the author of more than sixty books, including King Jack and the Dragon(illustrated by Helen Oxenbury), an American Library Association Notable Book of the Year. The clever visual layout and amusing artwork from award winning illustrator Mei Matsuoka will bring smiles to children, dog lovers and art appreciators alike. Children's book reviews, video reviews and more Reviews and Videos Our ethos is to encourage positive, healthy development through early learning, and to help foster an awareness of living sustainably, caring for our planet and all her creatures. With wonderful rhyming text, each and every word rolls off the tongue almost seamlessly and together with wacky illustrations of every shape of dog; small, large, fat and thin, you and your child can’t fail to be caught up in this rollicking read.

As much as I love Mei Matsuoka as an illustrator, this story grossed me out a bit to be be completely honest. I loved it when I first saw it arriving at my local library branch, and love it now they're selling off their copy.

Peter Bently lives in Totnes in South Devon with his wife Lucy and their two children, Theo and Tara. As a parent, I thought it was gross and disgusting but my 7-year-old son thought it was hilarious (after I explained what it was supposed to be) and I guess that's the point of a children's book . He studied languages at Oxford and worked as a journalist and non-fiction book editor before becoming a children's author when his own two children were very small. Mei is motivated by the passion to create something that touches people’s lives and hopefully leaves a positive impact on all.
