About this deal

Hal and Uncle Nat are travelling to see the Northern Lights during the festive season, and as the title may suggest, yup, there's an assassin aboot! But Hal is worried about the Yorkshire Gold Tea in his rucksack as requested by Uncle Nat, he only requests it when he's worried about something! My class all have loved reading it after going to an event with the authors and I have had many a playground chat with some serious super fans about how exciting the story and the illustrations are. This time it is not one but 2 deadly assassins and they are caight in the crossfire on the train to the Arctic to see the northern lights.

I really enjoyed this book, full of excitement and action and, as usual, the illustrations are amazing and add so much to the story. Believe me when I say that I have been looking forward to reading this book since the day I found out about it’s publication. The bands I worked with included The Divine Comedy, The Catchers, Edwyn Collins, The Frank and Walters, and A House. Elisa Paganelli's wonderful illustrations continue to give life to his sketches, allowing the reader to see each scene Hal captures and glean the same clues - if they can! Hal isn't just a train buff, he also has a nose for crime and it seems no matter where in the world they are Hal and Uncle Nat are the Duo to bring crims to justice! Im actually really sad that there will be no more in the series as I could go on reading them forever! But first he has to take a plane to Sweden as uncle Nat is there to go to a special dinner with a friend, Morti, who is receiving a Nobel prize and she's asked Nat to go to the ceremony with her.

This sixth book in the series has been much anticipated, and I was so grateful to get an early read from NetGalley. I was utterly delighted that, along with Kafka and some other literary greats, they were kind enough to mention my stories about beetles. Perfect for Year 4 readers upwards, this is a title that I know is much anticipated by not just many children but many adults too who have also been hooked by these wonderful stories. On Thursday the 13th of October, The Arctic Railway Assassin was published and we celebrated in style at Hatchards in Picadilly, London. Find out about the latest book in the 'Girl, Missing' series, Secret Sister, in this short video by author Sophie McKenzie. Hal’s art work continues to be central to each story, but in this one, I feel there is a real sense of the development of his talent. The story starts with Hal’s Uncle sending a request for Tea when Hal comes across to join him on his journey to the Arctic to see the Northern Lights. They are travelling to the Aurora Sky Station in the Arctic circle, to see the Northern Lights for Christmas.

Uncle Nat is taking Hal on the train from Sweden to the Aurora Sky Station, Abisko, Finland to see the Northern Lights. It has an interesting first chapter which demonstrates the fascination beetles have held for many people throughout history, from Darwin to… well… me! Much of my work is about attempting to conjure up stories that children will adore, and forges a relationship between them and the natural world, whilst desperately trying to avoid being didactic and keeping things hopeful.
