Ambiguously Jewish: Superman's background story is a pastiche of Moses and the immigrant Jewish experience, with a bit of Take That! When a bunch of elemental spirits are summoned to tell Superman to leave Earth, Superman says he refuses. Intrepid Reporter: Even with his powers gone, Clark still protects Metropolis as an investigative reporter. Badass Boast: Superman ends up locked in giant chains made of kerenthium steel — the strongest metal in the universe, used to haul stars between galaxies — and when his captor attempts to taunt him as he struggles to escape. As the two sides butt heads, Clark repeatedly tells his superpowered counterpart to get lost if he isn't going to help him or Alice, which he does.

Even the Justice League members are surprised that after it looked like Earth was a goner, all the robots simply stopped moving. He wants to conquer it because it is the main protector of other planets and states he is like the humans, thus he will be defeated.He ends up restoring his memory after trying to throw away an enemy grenade only for it to explode in his hand, naturally to no effect. Up in the Sky ran concurrently with Brian Michael Bendis' run of Superman, but is treated as a side story with otherwise no canon standing. Superman formed his own with Lois and his son Jon, the former an Intrepid Reporter while the latter is also a superhero. Superman himself tends to meet this attitude with confusion — he doesn't see himself this way at all and doesn't understand why someone would.

But only the mindless Doomsday, famous for clearing entire planets of all life, has given him such a fight that was not only able to "kill" Superman, but making him fear the idea of battling the monster again. Kryptonite has arguably displaced Achilles' Heel, and the name of one of his supervillains has become a synonym for genius: brainiac. During their further travels he gives Alice even more answers - his favorite Ron is his friend Dick, Mister Terrific is smarter than Batman, Luthor probably hates him as he blames him for making him bald, Wonder Woman is way cooler than she looks, Green Arrow doesn't have anything except arrows as far as he knows and gets into fights with everyone, he won against Flash in the earlier race as he ran faster. After they hug, Superman tells Alice he was crying as he was he was happy that he saved his life by finding a cure for his illness.

Deal with the Devil: In chapter 9, Superman ends up making a deal with Darkseid, who offers to help him find Alice, but only on one condition: Superman must take an innocent life. Time Travel: Chapter 6 sees Superman accidentally falling into a temporal wormhole that displaced him into the middle of World War II, losing his memory, but fortunately finding himself in the good company of Sgt.

The use of the Sunstone to construct the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic is taken from Superman: The Movie. It bites him on the ass in Superman: The Movie, as he assumes that since Luthor hid something in a lead case, it must be the codes to stop the nuclear missiles. Metropolitans no longer speak these words because they actually think the blue and red figure in the sky is a bird or a plane, but because those are their lines. Then DC came to the realization that those characters filled a necessary niche after all and spent over fifteen years trying to replace them with non-Kryptonian versions to preserve Superman's "uniqueness". and Clark Kent, including his employment history, school records, and medical history, then feeds them into a supercomputer to determine what connection exists between them.Unfortunately, Krypton is mired by social upheaval and unrest, making the scenario kind of nightmarish.

However, after a confrontation with the mysterious Remnant, who views Superman as evil because of the villains who come to confront him and feels that Ty shares his views, Superman confronts Ty with another question for his article; if Superman wasn’t around, would there be fewer Doomsdays (monsters seeking to confront Superman) or more Coast Cities (a disaster that explicitly happened because Superman wasn’t there)? Originally this also included both Pa and Ma Kent dying, marking the passage between Superboy and Superman. During this, he invites her to ask any questions she may have about him — which end up including "How do you fly? Arch-Enemy: Superman has had many enemies, but all of them pale in comparison to these four in regards to who earns the Man of Steel's biggest enmity.Exposition Beam: Superman's first step in locating the missing girl's location is stopping at Rann and using their technology to beam in all the documented information they have about all usage of the zeta beam used to kidnap her. While traveling, they come across the space pirate Sprrlck the Unconquered, who feeds on the energy of his victims. He didn’t understand me as a kid, but he supported my love of comics and my love of film and I wouldn’t be making this movie now without him. After Cir-El, DC threw their hands up, admitted that neither of those replacements had worked, and brought Kara back in “ The Supergirl from Krypton (2004)”.
