About this deal

A predicate is a key part of constructing sentences in English because it shows when the action occurred, is happening, or will happen. The first missing word is the easier of the two and asks students to slide in the missing word to complete the sentence. It could be used as a reading exercise and played with the class with each students choosing a tile and then having to read it once completed. For teachers outside England and Wales, the level is about 3-4 years of teaching for Foundation, 5-6 years for Higher (depending on your syllabi). It is on the Top Marks site but has Bite Size on it so I am not sure if it used to be a BBC game or not.It is helpful for children learning EAL to practise sentence construction in English as different languages use different syntax and hence different sentence structures. We have those listed both at the top and below if you need some ideas for CVC, Vowels, Digraphs and Syllables.
