The main female character doesn't fare much better, sounding like a 'pick me' / 'not like other girls' every two sentences. If you love Icebreaker and Consider Me, this book will be right up your alley and I can't wait for the next book in the series. Keep in mind the smut is like half a page and I wouldn’t even count it as smut, let alone good smut. Despite the rivalry between her brother’s team and Chase’s and the total embarrassment of a first night together, these petty Betty’s end up striking up a friendship that ruffles a lot of feathers.

She's tagged along for the ride while her brother Derek, star defensive for the Bruder College Bulldogs, has done the same. At the beginning we see Bailey and Chase, who go to two different colleges and their hockey teams are rivals. Like I get that he wanted to protect her and stuff but she’s not a little kid, she can take care of herself.

SLIGHT SPOILIES] a pregnancy that isn’t talked about beyond that scene, the whole house/money situation, any of the plot lines surrounding her writing for the school publication, her giant mysterious injury (which literally isn’t actually brought up until the last 5% of the book and it’s done in such a ‘oh yeah this is what happened’ sort of way). He didn’t deserve that at all, and that’s truly my only complaint - we didn’t get to see how all of that was handled and if it had as big of an impact as it was assumed on his hockey career (but I haven’t read the bonus chapters yet so who knows). Though the more time she spends getting to know her new roommate, the more it becomes apparent that Ethan is the exact type of guy she could fall for.

after getting dumped on her birthday by her cheating boyfriend, bailey goes out for a girls night with her friends and gets hit on by chase, her brother and ex's hockey rival who's known for starting fights on the ice. Women don’t always have orgasms or struggle to have them, and it would have been so amazing to see this in a book.

The conflict is external to the couple, which I loved, but it is something very similar to happen in one of my favorite other hockey romances of 2022. Super fun (and not so quick of a read) book to read and I loved the bromance between the Falcon’s hockey team, such an amazing touch. bailey was treated terribly by everyone from her school's hockey team, including some of the team girlfriends who were also her roommates and i loved how he was never shy to stand up for her. Also, considering how fast they start getting to know each other, I don’t understand why this book is so long, it’s very unnecessary. The heroine starts dating the hero, a hockey player from her school rival’s team (which her brother and ex both play for her school’s team).
