Nikkors were indeed made with a few thorium infused glass elements but the danger of such lenses is way over stated.

The only thing you have to be a little careful about, is changing the lens in very dusty/windy conditions.

Might want to rent one though and give it a spin but rent an FX body as well if you go that route as you wouldn’t want to judge that lens on a cropped DX.

I own a Nikkor N 35mm F1,4 and after a few months of shooting I can affirm this is one of the best optic I have ever tested.I’ve provided both Nikon Z lenses as well as the older Nikon F-mount counterparts for the best of both worlds! The only complaint that I have about the 70-200mm is its weight – it can be quite painful to carry around on a full day wedding. It won't autofocus with the cheapest new AF 35mm cameras like the N55, but if you focus manually, everything else works great. In an ideal world, zoom range, sharpness and bokeh quality would not suppress each other, but I guess we’ll have to wait a while for that. One thing you have to remember though, is that you should not only look at sharpness tests when choosing between lenses.
