About this deal

What was required to combat the onslaught of the railways, was first outlined in January of 1845 in the provisional registration of a new company, the General Steam Collier Company. The London coal importers and the East Anglian ship-owners were outraged and resolved to boycott Tyneside coal.

Here’s a bit of local history for you; there’s been an ale house on the site of The Bridge Tavern for nearly 200 years. At the time of the launch the Lort Burn was tidal and navigable for some way towards what is now Grey Street. Safe navigation into or out of the river depended on the draft of the vessel, the tide and the prevailing wind. In fact, the earliest recorded launch was in 1294 when a galley was launched into the Lort Burn for King Edward I. Home trade ships were predominantly from Ipswich or Kings Lynn and foreign trade was carried in Dutch or French ships. The Newcastle burgesses made a similar attempt in 1576 during the reign of Elizabeth I but were opposed by the queen's privy council. And because man cannot live on ale alone (unfortunately) they’ve also opened a delicious kitchen where you can stuff yourselves silly with man food including 8oz sirloin steaks and the house classic fish-finger sandwich. They unfortunately do not offer student discount, but do offer the consolidation a Greene King pub provides, as at this final destination you can round the route off with an assortment of the most popular lagers and other alcoholic beverages. To access the seventh pub on this trail, you are required to take the ferry from North Shields to South Shields, where your Metro ticket will grant you access on the ferry crossing – so prep your sea legs.

The last pub of the crawl is based on Jarrow High Street and it’s also the final Greene King pub on the route. A spokesman for NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the state government would not comment on the court’s decision until it had considered the judgment in full.We will launch at Utilita Arena Newcastle and then we will be moving into a brand new state of the art home at the Sage ICC across the river. Specialising in craft beers, the Left Luggage Room is placed in Unit 6 of Monkseaton Metro station, thus requiring the shortest walk from the Metro to your pint. Today it is wide and deep, even though serious dredging ceased in about 1990, whereas in the early 19th century it was shallow, with islands, sand banks, tight bends and generally not conducive to navigation. Add a healthy amount of cocktails, lagers and “haven’t heard it for ages” tunes to the mix and you’re in for one hell of a night. A Comic Con is an event (the ‘con’ is short for convention) where comic book fans can get together to celebrate the culture of comic books.
