The Shure MV7 is a professional-quality USB dynamic microphone, ideal for close mic applications that require vocal intelligibility with a balanced tone. Shure has an enviable pedigree in the world of professional audio, with many podcasters and radio pros swearing by their products. We’d choose the MV7 solely for its vocal performance rather than trying to capture instruments with it. The 55SH Series II has a cardioid polar pattern and the Super 55 Deluxe has a supercardioid polar pattern which just means the latter is a little more directional than the former. The mount included in the podcast bundle is good enough for desk recordings, but you’ll want to invest in something better if you’re streaming or need to move the mic out of the way when talking. The internal converter of the MV 7 operates at a maximum sample rate of 48 kHz and with a 24-bit internal resolution.
