About this deal

Each map is imbued with anirresistible sense of excitement about the world and optimism for the future. Martha is such a fun character and I hope she has fun making the most of her youth and manages to make her goals come true. It could be used to support KS1 topics in geography and maths, such as local area mapping, towns and cities, geographical scale, and as a general introduction to map work. Martha's maps will take you on an enchanting journey through her world, starting from outer space and zooming in, map by map, to our planet, Martha's neighbourhood, and beyond.

She is also an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator, who is absolutely passionate about writing, making things up and daydreaming. Even the idea of scale is introduced as Martha comments how she’s teeny-tiny on some maps whilst bigger on others.Published by MA Education Limited, St Jude's Church, Dulwich Road, Herne Hill, London SE24 0PB, a company registered in England and Wales no. The maps were tons of fun and I loved the little texts that were added in the map that gave it just that little extra. Gan ddechrau ym mhellteroedd y gofod, mae pob map yn y llyfr yn closio'n nes ac yn nes at fyd mewnol Martha ei hun. Leigh is also an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator, who is absolutely passionate about writing, making things up and daydreaming.

The delightful textured and patterned illustrations perfectly complement Martha's optimism and creativity. The enormity of the universe and how it all began was a constant source of both wonder and nausea (still haven't figured it out! Though Martha is small, she is full of big ideas and in this gorgeous story, we see her making sense of her surroundings and charting out her future success.

The aerial views are so captivating and I always enjoy turning a book on its side just as we do with the map of her building. The latest picture book from Leigh Hodgkinson is an utterly joyful explosion of personal geography that's ideal for inquisitive little minds. It could be used to support KS1 topics in geography and maths, such as local area mapping, towns and cities, geographical scale and as a general introduction to map work.

Een ideaal boek dat past bij onderbouwthema's als huizen, wonen, ruimte en ook zeker rekenonderdelen bevat. I love how we start off looking at the universe, then gradually zoom in to Martha and her home before panning out again. She has been shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize twice, and longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal four times. Starting in outer space, we zoom in page by page, to our planet, Martha's community, and beyond to her dreams of a future where ANYTHING is possible.
