About this deal

Born in 1921 on the 27th of September, Bernard Waber was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Pauline and Henry Waber. It's all too common for blended families to be portrayed in the media as antagonistic or hostile, so it's refreshing to see Josh feel close to his stepmother, whom he considers his mom.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile Movie Review | Common Sense Media Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile Movie Review | Common Sense Media

My first time reading this classic picture book about a family who is rich af and a crocodile lives in their bathtub and it's all an amazing fantasy.God’s Eye is an easy read, rhyming story explaining how to see life’s difficult circumstances through God’s perspective instead of our own. Cath Clarke of The Guardian gave the film a mixed review giving it 3 out of 5 stars and wrote: "Javier Bardem marches away with the film as flamboyant failed showman Hector P Valenti. Lyle is so sweet-natured and likable, he'll quickly work his way into your heart and home, just like he did to the Primm Family, that fateful day when they moved into the house on East 88th Street. And no matter how different one is, even if they're a Crocodile, they can mean something to someone. He’s the happiest crocodile any home ever had…until one neighbor insists that Lyle belongs in a zoo!

The House on East 88th Street (Lyle the Crocodile) - Goodreads The House on East 88th Street (Lyle the Crocodile) - Goodreads

With a diploma and a new wife, he traveled to New York City, where he began working for the Condé Nast magazines as an illustrator. Bernard Waber's House on East 88th Street is The Volume that Started it All, the origin of the reptilian legend named Lyle the Crocodile. At the same time, Waber was reading aloud to his three children, which sparked his enthusiasm for the genre. Over fifty years ago, the Primms moved into the house on East 88th Street and found a crocodile soaking in the bathtub. Seeing Lyle as an opportunity to become rich in the talent business, he places his three-story Victorian brownstone house as collateral for their performance, but Lyle experiences stage fright during the premiere and Hector loses the house. When the Primms move into the house on East 88th Street, there is a strange SWSH, SWASH, SPLASH, SWOOSH sound coming from the bathroom. This hardcover storybook featuring four complete beloved Lyle books plus a sheet of stickers makes a great gift.
