That’s not to say there weren’t some good shocks, surprises, and chapter cliff hangers, but compared to the unhinged bizarreness of What Lies Between Us and The Good Samaritan, Keep It in the Family just wasn’t as unique or clever. The characters were really underdeveloped (even at 60-70% through) and I had a hard time connecting to the story.

If not you’re probably not really missing out on a must-read but I did enjoy this book, it just wasn’t one that left me feeling wowed to where I will be telling my fellow readers to go read it. Since then it has evolved into a valuable resource and support system for authors who have or would like to self-publish.As the renovations progress, a shocking and chilling discovery is made in the form of a message that has been carved into a skirting board.

Throughout the novel were chapters from an unidentified psychotic individual, beginning in the present and working backwards – one year, three years, etc. She is prepared to do anything to protect her family—but will the previous tenants stop her from discovering their secret?The final section went on a little bit too long for me, and the inner-dialogue style can slow things down a little. Overall this was a quick and engaging read, that did have some surprises along the way but the characters and the storyline just didn't ring true to me. Instead of writing a narrative that immerses the reader in the story so they're living the experience (and feeling all the feels too), this was written with the intent to just tell you what's happening as if you're an outsider looking in. As they track down the eaves, the two make a shocking discovery: their dream house was once a haunted house.
