About this deal

The narrative is told through Rachel's current perspective, and her past, when she was a naive 19 year old nanny struggling to adapt to the US and her new job in a wealthy home. The Casey Anthony case meets the Jon-Benet Ramsey case in this suspenseful, well-written thriller by Claire McGowan.

A dostałam jakiś fatalny okropnie napisany styl życia głównej bohaterki - która swoją droga była wybitnie irytująca. But when the current dead woman’s identity is revealed as her boyfriend’s ex-wife, she becomes the main suspect. This is a tense and compulsive book with a mystery that does an exceptionally good job of trying to pull the wool over the reader's eyes. It's the grand guignol of I Know What You Did Last Summer, laying its claim to succeed Scream as a high-grossing and blood-drenched date-night crowd-pleaser. The killer's arming of himself with a hook is a reference to the urban legend "The Hook", which the four main characters recount at the beginning of the film around a campfire. The truths behind the two sets of murders converge, filled with all kinds of nasty secrets and lies, leading Rachel to hear the words she's hoped she'd never hear again: I KNOW YOU.

Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! When first one, then two students are found dead, it looks like Ruby is being framed by another killer. So she ended up, little more than a child herself, looking after 5 year old Madison and 6 month old Carson. Specific sites included the Amuzu Theater, where the beauty pageant is held, the Old Yacht Basin and Southport Fish Company.Female-driven thrillers are kind of my thing right now (the more fucked-up the better), and luckily my friend Nenia is always down to buddy-read them with me. i think i preferred reading casey’s POV more than rachel, but i was equally interested in both mysteries. THE FALL is her first novel, which is followed by a series starring forensic psychologist Paula Maguire.

Whenever you read a thriller like this, it's a tug of war between wanting to be right and wanting to be shocked. The ending is also so well thought out that the author actually kinda tricks you into the murder was someone else. And we are following Rachel, who tries to untangle all these threads and not get locked in prison again. An enjoyable domestic noir with interesting characters and inevitable twists – an above average three-and-a half-star rating. A couple of years later, I went to live in Paris where I was editorial assistant for an American newspaper. But her dreams of red carpets and flashing lights are cut short when she comes home to find the family brutally murdered, and is subsequently sentenced to death row for their deaths.
