About this deal

I really enjoyed the novelizations of the first two films, and I was super excited to read the novelization of my favorite sequel in the franchise. I’d done a number of tie-in novels for Titan Books, which is the publisher for the novelisation, and they approached me about writing this one. Most interestingly, the details of Michael's experiences at the Smith's Grove "Sanitarium" are given.

Halloween (Novelization 1978) : Richards, Curtis : Free

He's watched way too many slasher movies over the decades, which makes him an aficionado on all things Halloween and Friday the 13th. Many scenes in the book are longer than in the movie, some of the dialogue a bit better, and, strangely, the pacing works better on the page than on the screen. The bird was no genuine replacement for Red’s family, nothing, and no one would, but Red loved Tookie all the same. However that being said a good movie doesn’t always a make a good book but in this case the book was amazing. I’m fifty-seven, and I saw the original Halloween in the theater when it was first released, and I saw all the others – including Rob Zombie’s films – as they came out.Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. So, it’s little surprise that John Carpenter’s Halloween saw a companion novelization release in 1979, after setting the box-office alight.

With Halloween II and every other sequel out of canon now, it fits in with the original movie and Michael's supposed obsession with Laurie in it. It almost makes Michael a sympathetic character as a kid who is changed against his will and can't help himself. Honestly I have nothing much to say about this except there isn’t really any action until like 75% which is a bummer. Her relationship with Corey is a lot stronger in the novel, where we’re able to see why she acts towards him the way she does. A town filled with darkness and despair that moves forward with the sickenly real thought in the back of their mind that he could very much come back.I wanted to refresh myself on the actors’ portrayal of the characters, as well as the films’ style and pacing. If you're a fan of Haddonfield and/or "evil changes shape" then you will love the film that accompanies this novel.
