About this deal

If you had to recommend only one art book (a comic book, graphic novel, children book, ‘‘how to’’ book) to a fellow artist, what would it be and why? Painting into an area I have purposefully left vague and just letting the paint do what it does and see what happens. The idea being that as an animator you would have to be able to draw characters or environments out of your imagination that are solid, three-dimensional, and look like they exist in space. Absolutely gorgeous book, with a neat history and culture presented through the form of a travel guide.

We and our partners use data for Personalised ads and content, ad and content measurement, audience insights and product development. I have learned over the years to use gouache to paint over problems and I’ve learned to lift out mistakes with a wet brush. The illustrations are fantastic, and the guidebook is charming, with plenty of warnings about the dangers in the surrounding areas. I’m much more interested in drawing straight onto the finished paper now and letting spontaneity rule the outcome of the work. Which is why I am a bit sad I missed the second Kickstarter – it’s supposed to be a bit more personal compared to this one!If you find yourself in Gwelf may I suggest you stay away from the section titled “Here Be Ugly Nasty Things”. The first time I told some people I would rather stay home and draw than go out partying I got some looks. For the last fifteen years, Larry has been working as an animation designer, book illustrator, environment and character designer for games, and fine artist making personal art for private clients.

Whether you're an established professional, a student, an aspiring artist, or simply an admirer of the art form, CDR invites you to join our ever-expanding community and partake in the celebration of character design excellence. Larry MacDougall has done that thing-created a fantasy world that is completely believable, super charming, and more than a little bit dangerous. I put this book on hold after I saw the cover because it reminded me of the Mouse Guard graphic novels. In your own experience, what would you suggest to someone who is inspired by your work and wants to follows your footsteps:should they work in one consistent style, or work on many different ones?It has brought so much joy and excitement into my life and it continues to do so whoever I think of Gwelf or look at the illustrations all over again. If the Gwelf ever did defeat Chuck, then the Dig-Its would establish it as a member of the Dig-It parliament. My copy is now old and deformed and the slipcover is shredded but luckily the book was very well made it is still holding together. The Gwelf was first created in Dig-It Land, and eventually expanded its natural range to other parts of the UnUniverse. Through our collective appreciation for visual arts, we foster a dynamic and supportive environment where artists can connect, collaborate, and grow together.
