For fans of precision: the countdown timers help you to remember specific or recurring events by giving off an audible signal at a preset time. Actually, this is a rectangular dial with cut-off corners, and these cases have their detractors and supporters. In the old module, the abbreviation of the chosen city remained visible (like NYC), but where you are will be something you’ll remember yourself and hasn’t to be kept in the display in my opinion.
With some expectations on my part, the G-SHOCK GW-M5610U-1ER went into this test and the – admittedly somewhat unfair – comparison with the top model MRG B5000B-1DR. Possibly, the change was made with the last model change when the classic received a facelift in 2021. The bezel is also pretty standard, in the sense that you get the “G-Shock” inscription, like all other G-Shock watches. Designed around the original G-SHOCK rectangular case shape, the GW-M5610 series feature a more advanced functionality spec with Multi Band 6 Radio Controlled technology to ensure it keeps accurate time, and solar power for maximum reliability.The GW-M5610U-1 can be identified by the “LIGHT” label on the top right of the face (as opposed to “EL BACK LIGHT” on the older non-U model) and by the series name (GW-M5610U) and module number (3495) on the case back. There is no perfect watch and we're not to the point in technology where we can custom design our own watches . It may have the same finish as the buttons, but for some reason, I think it doesn’t work wellthe rest of the watch. The wristwatch has been on the market for about 10 years and has been updated several times since then, most recently in July 2021, sharing the design with the G-SHOCK x SUPER MARIO BROS DW-5600SMB-4ER. I don't know if this band style is a Japanese-market thing, but I am not a fan of this flat band that doesn't have the "links" where the band attaches to the module.
During the use of a second time-zone in world-time mode, the original home time of the watch remains visible in the display as well. G-Shock Japan is adding two more colorways to the updated GW-M5610U series: GW-M5610U-1CJF and GW-M5610U-2JF. After you select an alrm, hold down (A) until the hour setting of the alarm time starts to flash, which indicates the setting screen. The GW-M5610U-1ER (black with red accent) and GW-M5610U-1BER (black with inverted LCD display) have the same updated module as the GW-5000U-1ER. Bluetooth would have been a nice touch and perhaps a more punchy display like my 1984 purchased DW-5200, would have been nice.Prior GW-5000 models were made in Japan, and we believe that the same will be true of the GW-5000U-1. The world time mode: because this G-Shock only has 4 buttons (where other models have 5, one dedicated to the light), you can only change the time zone going forward, namely to the East.
The G-shock gwm5610 is a classic piece with all the functions and features you could wish for on your wrist. It is possible that some retailers and third party sellers are still selling the old GWM5610-1 (Module 3159) in the U. This feature, of permanent availability of the home time in the display, shows in the stopwatch and timer mode as well. The crystal oscillator and other critical parts inside the module are guarded individually by cushioning material.As I live in Brussels, Belgium, I happen to receive signals from both the United Kingdom and Germany. But after much deliberation, I decided that the blue theme of this watch would go much better with a white bezel and band rather than the normal red/greyish whatever on the default 5610U.
