About this deal

Gold foil printing is done with the help of a laser printer, some gold foil transfer sheets and a laminator or a gold foiling machine. Don’t be tempted to print in coloured toner because for some reason foil does not adhere as well to coloured toner as it does to black. I must say there is a huge difference as the laminators were giving me patchy and inconsistent results.

Once your laminator has warmed up sufficiently (10-15 minutes should work for most machines), stack your pages with the design print on bottom, the foil over that, and the scratch paper on the top. However, I have found that the greaseproof paper can crease in the laminator and create massive creases on your beautiful print which are then impossible to get out. I’m not really sure what would cause that, but I will definitely watch more closely and if I find out anything I’ll post it here. Over inflating or under inflating Bubbles can decrease float times, so follow package instructions to inflate properly and achieve the best float times. If it is just little flakes, my guess would be that during the printing process, some flakes of toner are getting on the page (maybe they were stuck to the roller from a previous print job?Heidi Swapp also has planner dividers , tags , and stickers that you can use with the foil instead of printing your own. Ensure your foil piece is nice and smooth and undamaged – if you use scratched dirty foil then the result will be a patchy image. I actually have a couple of containers full of cards I received from family and friends throughout my childhood and college.

And I am sure there is yet more to learn as I still constantly get flawed prints… so I am on a mission to get them as perfect as possible! Tissue paper is unlikely to work properly unless you are not planning on applying toner with a printer e. e. if you are printing an 8x10” printout then create your image as a 16x20” and print it at an 8x10” size. I have been trying to foil with the deco foil and am having issues with the foil adhering to the toner on regular copy paper.Any advice, tips, or suggestions relating to ADHD or mental health are not intended to replace professional medical advice or treatment. When using helium, inflate the Deco Bubble as well as ALL balloons inside the Deco Bubble with helium. Update: I don’t think the Mohawk paper is available anymore, but this HP Paper is also very smooth and I love it!

Use your latex regulator to add a micro-second of helium, or use a hand pump to add just enough air to fill out the inner shape. With regards to paper thickness – be careful with very thick paper in laser printers as they can’t cope with it as well as inkjets. e. don’t overlap sheets when you don’t have a long enough sheet – you will end up with black lines on your print. The best part about foiling is that once you learn how easy it is, you want to start foiling everything! This could be from the laminator not being hot enough, or can also be a result of the paper you are using (the more grit the paper has, the less foil that will stick smoothly). I haven’t had much of a problem with it sticking where there isn’t toner, never more than just a few little specks, if anything. I was just wondering if you only want a section of your print foiled, would you put the print back through the printer after foiling?

Bubble Balloon™ - Qualatex

The piece on the right in this image is ok to use - the piece on the left will leave a little black circle on your print. Print image/font in black → cover the area you want to foil in foil → send it through the laminator. Now, they want the lettering in gold foil and ever time I try to do it the whole foil sheet sticks on the paper and doesn’t come off. A lot of people have success with the Brother but I have found that on smaller areas it just doesn’t foil as consistently. I’ve seen a lot of cool foil cards lately and I really wanted to try out the deco foiling sheets and I’m a little in love with how easy and cute this project came out.And of course, I like pretty things so when you put the two together, I decided on making some cute thank you cards.
