Thanks to an improved menu system and button layout, rocker zoom and mode dial, the FinePix S5700 can be operated easily with one hand. As for card capacity, a freshly formatted 1GB card provides approximately enough space for 285 shots. By following the above procedure “Firmware version checking procedure”, you can see the firmware version. This was shot at 200 ISO, giving a shutter speed of 1/160th, which with the camera’s superb handling is fast enough for this zoom shot. It’s the ultimate camera for every occasion and perfect for users who always want a camera to hand, but prefer to get creative, not technical, with their photography.Since it has no image stabilisation the S5700 relies on its high-ISO capability to provide a fast enough shutter speed to make the long zoom viable, and it certainly scores well in this area, although it’s not quite up to the levels of some other Fuji cameras. FujiFilm has always argued that megapixels alone aren't a measure of image quality and the thinking behind Real Photo Technology is to align three important factors in the camera's make-up: the image processor, Super CCD sensor, and the camera's optics. The Anti-Blur Mode, which exploits the camera’s exceptional ISO capabilities, reduces blurring caused by movement of the user, as well as movement blur caused by the subject, making it much more effective than image stabilisation technology alone.

The only real problem with image quality is something that has plagued just about every Fuji camera I’ve ever seen: massive purple fringing along the left-hand edge of every bright highlight.Adrian Clarke, Fujifilm’s Director of Photo Products, commented, “The FinePix S5700 represents the logical, but still impressive, evolution for the S series. The only weak point of the otherwise excellent S5600 was image quality, but the S5700 addresses all of the issues raised by that camera. I've found that pictures taken at ISO400 are still very acceptable, although noise levels at ISO levels 800 and 1600 mean that you should reserve these settings for occasions when it's better to have even a noisy picture than no picture at all. The camera's ergonomic shape and sturdy build make for better handling and considering there's a whopping 10x optical zoom on board, the weight and bulk factor are barely noticeable.
