One flaw that bugs me though that I’m wondering if anyone has an explanation for is the number of cases in the final sequence. The official poster for the film, along with five posters depicting characters pair-ups and their relationships, were released on 9 October 2018, while a final theatrical poster was unveiled on 2 November 2018.

Set several years after the events of its predecessor, the film sees Albus Dumbledore tasking Newt Scamander and his allies with a mission that takes them into the heart of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald's army. Shocked, Dumbledore thanks the Qilin for the honor but convinces it that there is another equally worthy. The film marketing campaign began in September 2021, the same day the title was announced as Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Meanwhile, a distraught Queenie is brought to Grindelwald; knowing Queenie's abilities, he allows her to leave while manipulating her into joining him through her desire to marry Jacob. When she was a young teenager, her great aunt, who Rowling said "taught classics and approved of a thirst for knowledge, even of a questionable kind," gave her a very old copy of Jessica Mitford's autobiography, Hons and Rebels.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. Attempting to recapture a Niffler that escaped from his suitcase of magical creatures, Newt meets No-Maj Jacob Kowalski, an aspiring baker, and they unwittingly swap suitcases. K. Rowling and several cast members on the Today Show Plaza, as it was announced that another trailer would be released the following day; nine individual character posters featuring Newt, Tina, Jacob, Queenie, Credence, Theseus, Leta, Grindewald and Dumbledore were also released that day. In February 2022, producer David Heyman revealed that work on the script for Fantastic Beasts 4 had not yet begun. Grindelwald vows to destroy the Muggle world, but Dumbledore denounces the plan as madness, saying he once supported it only because he was young and foolish. After Newt lifts the enchantment, Jacob refuses to marry Queenie, fearing the consequences she would face.
