About this deal

For certain adventures, such as a more tactical and combat-oriented assault, the action will take place on the battle map, rather than on the journey map. Some cards have immediate powers, but most have powers that you can use repeatedly when players choose certain actions on their turns, and choosing cards that have the right powers and that you’ll be able to invoke more often is a huge part of Earth strategy. Designed by Maxime Tardif, Earth invites players to immerse themselves in a rich world of flora, fauna, climate, ecosystems, and islands. Each growth piece scores 1 point at the end of the game but the last piece you place when reaching the maximum growth of the card must be a canopy.

At any time except in the middle of an action or ability, players can convert 3 sprouts to 2 soil (but not the other way around). What’s more, the app guides you through entire campaigns, filling each adventure with content from a host of possibilities and allowing you to leave your own mark on Middle-earth. While player interaction may be limited, the engaging mechanics, high replayability, and impressive components make Earth a must-have addition to any board game collection. From Gondor to the Grey Mountains, Middle-earth is vast, and there’s no telling where your adventures could take you. While the mechanics of Earth are straightforward, the game’s strategic depth is where it truly shines.

So if you choose Growth, which is represented by yellow, you’d find all cards in your tableau with yellow stripes in their action spaces (some have more than one color) and then execute their actions as well. Embark on this ecological adventure, explore the wonders of Earth, and strategize your way to victory. With its extensive deck of unique cards and countless combinations, the game offers an expansive and immersive experience, ensuring no two games are alike. No matter if you choose to set out on your own or venture forth with four other players, a free companion app takes control of the evil forces arrayed against you, freeing you and your companions to stand together in a single Fellowship and battle against the darkness. It takes everything that’s good about the game Wingspan and makes it all more so, resulting in a gaming experience that’s a little more complex but also provides the satisfaction of building an engine that gets more powerful as the game progresses. Instead of simply tallying points, players will collect Earth tokens as they journey across the board. In Advanced Mode, players get more choices of Island, Climate and Ecosystem cards at the start of the game but the gameplay is the same as Standard Mode. On this blog, I'll hook you up with fresh takes on the latest game releases, juicy insights into gaming culture, and super engaging discussions. The game is very tight, you have very limited actions and there’s the potential you won’t complete your island because Gaia only goes through her deck twice.

Each of the iconic characters you can choose to embody have their own special abilities to contribute to your Fellowship, giving each one a distinct identity for your campaign. When I was low on soil, I kept thinking ‘is there any other way for me to get soil without giving Gaia soil? These cards represent a character’s accumulated knowledge from their days exploring Middle-earth, including tactics, innate abilities, and even songs they can draw on in the heat of battle. But Earth also has way more going on, from all the things you need to track to the opaque nature of the icons, most of which sent me back to the rulebook multiple times before I could remember their meaning. Most importantly, though, your story will unfold as the app gives you new goals to pursue and mysteries to unravel. You can Water, placing up to six sprout cubes on cards that have room for them and gaining two soil.
