Carissa has always met my expectations in action-heavy scenes, but it was in the incredibly intimate valleys between peak plot points that had me placing my hand over my heart…. Things go wrong (as they do) and Tisaanah survives in an incredibly moving scene where she— is it a spoiler if it happens in the first chapters?

SO my ghost is now writing this by making chopsticks float in the air and having them press on the keyboard. Ripped from a forgotten homeland as a child, Tisaanah learned how to survive with nothing but a sharp wit an. Tisaanah all about them from an Aran Valtain traveler who would often stay with Esmaris Mikov during his visits, Zeryth Aldris. It takes a couple chapters to get into it but once the “big event” happens, it’s a genuinely enjoyable and entertaining story. I am really eager to know what will happen to the two main characters next, and I am also very curious to discover who is against them and who wants to use them, and for what purpose.

The thing is, this stands out as being more than a little out of character because she has an explicit moral imperative to do what she has to do with no regrets.

It had me engaged enough to want to continue on with the series because I can only see it getting better. Our FMC comes from a land where she was ripped away from her family at a young age and sold into slavery. Also, from the minute I saw him making a garden, I'd knew he was my soulmate, unlike some basic gardening bitches *cough*Elain*cough*.I enjoyed a lot their realistic relationship that goes from hostility at first to grudgingly becoming friends and opening up to one another, to something even more beautiful. There's no over exaggerated declarations of love or insta-anything and their interactions were a lot of fun to read.
