When fitting these taps (especially on stainless steel sinks), I'd like to do away with the flexi's in favour of copper tails to give the tap some stability. It is slid over the thread and the other end twisted tight by putting a nail or something similar into the hole and turning. However, the area through which the water can flow is much less than that offered by a traditional tap washer being raised off its flat seating, so flow rate is less. I have fitted these taps using both the flexi tails and using the copper tails and I must admit I liked the copper tails best, I found that the tap felt more ridged after fitting when done with copper even taps that had the plastic stiffener fitted under the sink there was still some movement when using the flexi tails.

If your basin is designed for a monobloc tap, it will have a single tap hole, so you don't have the option to convert to separate taps unless you change the basin. Some cheap monoblock kitchen taps come with thin copper tails but does anyone know where I can get hold of some decent quality ones? Yes they will work fine providing you are careful not to unscrew the tail whilst tightening the compression.
