About this deal

As I read each volume of this series, I keep seesawing back and forth between whether I like it or am too annoyed by it. Lots of action in this one, some great story progression, and enough intrigue to make you want the fourth volume immediately.

I got what I wanted and I hope it keeps tackling more interesting topics and doesn't shy away from anything because the premise is still absurd but the execution makes it work. Volume 3 wraps up the subplot of the last volume where the main demon hunting crew gets trapped in a haunted hotel and the only way to escape is to offer up Denji as a sacrifice to the Eternity Demon. There is an obvious connection between the two so it’ll be interesting to see how all of that ends up getting expanded upon. After being killed on a job, he is revived by his pet devil Pochita and becomes something new and dangerous—Chainsaw Man!All we know is that the yakuza still hasn’t forgotten about Denji and that this is about to turn into Bungo Stray Dogs on an entirely different level!

There is actually a gloomy atmosphere and the contrast, which is provided by Denji and Power breaks the gloom, well, almost perfectly.

The series was then published on the Shonen Jump digital platform after the cancellation of Weekly Shonen Jump. Chainsaw Man keeps up the hilarity with solid comedy, brutal action, and this volume packs a pretty big surprise twist.

Aki seems to be warming up to him more and more as time goes on and with Denji and Himeno becoming friends, that can only help their own friendship as well. But it also has some shocking developments, a moving sacrifice, and a cliffhanger that demands you read the next one. Suddenly, he transforms into a being just like Denji except instead of chainsaws, he has swords coming out of his body.

There were some insanely shocking moments throughout this entire volume… moments that will have an impact later, for sure. A conclusion that might bring the crew closer together in strange ways only to invite future disaster into their lives. It maintains the whacky comical vibe while introducing some darker elements into the story that isn’t afraid to make the characters pay for their mistakes with their lives. It is a bit unconventional but sometimes, doing the unexpected can yield positive results and I believe that this is one of those times where it was needed.
