I recently purchased the Gin Bothy Rum and a bottle of Merry Berry gin liqueur as a Christmas present for my wife.

All their products are exceptional and a pleasure to send to friends and family, as well as to enjoy oneself. Once back in Scotland, this special recipe was conceived and when added to our gin the Gin Bothy Amaretto Liqueur was born. Smoking of ingredients, often done in bothy smokehouses, has long been part of Scottish culture so Gin Bothy took inspiration from this long-held tradition and worked with Alex Spink and Sons, who have been making smokies in Arbroath since 1977, to create this Bothy Smoked Gin. Its spirit echoes along our shores and deep into our fishing communities, and so making a gin that is very much a love story between Scotland’s produce and the iconic bothy smokehouses felt like a very natural next step.

Starting out as farm buildings, crofts and, in our case, a smiddy — or blacksmith’s forge — Scotland’s bothies have long had a deep connection with the land. The bothy smokehouses dotted along the North East coasts offer culinary secrets from recipes of old and it is here that we created our smoked gin. AWARD WINNING - Our Amaretto was a finalist with a Bronze award in the Scottish Gin Awards in 2017 and also holds a Great Taste Award. The Gin Bothy Experience is housed in a former stables block in the village of Glamis, home to the world famous Glamis Castle.
