Ultimately, the creatures seem to take over Japan and I feel it's implied that they will eventually take over the world. His knack for sequential storytelling gets some appreciated breathing room in an ongoing plot like this, even as he utilizes less of those suspense-delivering page turns. It’s hard to explain without giving too much of the story, but the own selfishness of the act of quitting to live is altered as soon as an opportunity of being greedy and gaining a new life purpose who fills the void of being empty and self-aware.In Japanese, it's written yūmon 幽門, which has the kanji for ghost in it, which I liked, but there's no deeper meaning beyond that.

They have spotted bodies, rounded backs and very long legs, with which they would jump all over the place as soon as you got near them. The idea of the evils within humanity, how that might spill out as a broader result of knowing and exploring the realm of the soul, ends up contributing as well to the more 'real' feelings of fear at the heart of all the weirdness being illustrated in Black Paradox.The ratio of panels with body horror to those with people just talking was way too low, and the gore -- while it had a couple moments -- wasn't on par with what you'd expect from Junji Ito.
