About this deal

In the past, for example, the bridge mode capability has disappeared from some older Huawei 4G routers as a result of upgrading firmware. On the vanilla Huawei one when CA is in use the home page shows 4G+ (mine does not), this changes on the fly and on the device information page the vanilla one doesn't have CA mode displayed. The more painful bit was that I couldn't see any way of reverting the b818 to router mode without doing a factory reset, which makes experimentation a bit tedious! You can then connect your PC with an Ethernet cable via one of the two Gigabit Ethernet Ports or connect via WiFi using the secure password written on the base of the router and you can enjoy high speed 4G Internet. It would depend what bands are deployed at the mast, if there aren't any more 4G bands to aggregate then a different router won't help over what you have.

Thanks to your suggestion about the IPv4 APN issue, and after a bit of F12 hacking to reveal a hidden IPv4/IPv6 field in the B818's APN settings so that I could select IPv4 (rather than the hidden default of IPv4 and IPv6), all of the applications I mentioned in my first post (at least my work laptop VPN, Tor browser, Skype video, Facebook messenger video that we've tried so far) now work. I'm going to create some graphs, and see how things look on there, it's would be nice if the Speedtest CLI allowed you to link the speed test results to an account, but like the Android and Windows Apps I don't this is possible. You mentioned in a post higher up the chain: "There *is* such a field - but it needs to be unhidden using the browser developer tools.

After yesterdays IP change I was able to setup up a ping monitor, you can see my automated speed tests. It has a range of different functions, such as download speeds of 1600Mbps (256QAM) and upload speeds of 150Mbps (64QAM). If needed, you can also use Wi-Fi range extenders or access points to enhance the signal in specific areas.

Equally if there's some issue that requires a Unifi USG then I'm more than happy to add that too, I just cant see what would cause this issue? One of these LAN ports can also be used as a WAN connection, so that one does not necessarily have to rely on the wireless modem integrated in the router. The 260 also does not have 2300Mhz, which is probably the reason it's not being sold in SA as one of our operators use 2300Mhz. These offer a very good reception in the LTE network, especially in comparison with many smartphones.

Additionally, the router supports Wi-Fi 6, providing faster and more efficient wireless communication. While a different than router may see incremental changes in throughput I doubt it'd be worth the outlay.I was with Three for a while in my old place and used the APN to avoid CGNAT, but their signal quality was unreliable so I gave up.

There is an option on the firewall page "Disable WAN port ping", with the option unticked I can ping the IP from my phone which is on Three, but only when on mobile data - turn on wi-fi and I can't ping it. In recent times I've tried the Huawei B535, TP-Link MR600, Mikrotik Chateau LTE12, D-Link-921 and Zyxel LTE3301-PLUS with varying degrees of success. We can get MIMO 4x4 in LTE networks, for this purpose, external antennas should be plugged directly into the PCB (instead of large and small "sticks"). Contributing data yourself is obviously the best way to add to the pool (android phone required) and potentially find new bands.

And the same approach had worked fine when doing the initial config of the ER-X, for example, so I know it's not me just being totally useless! Does anyone know what settings I need to change to get it working like the O2 one did (and still does if I swap it back! I need to get around to testing the GS108 with just the 'backhaul' to the B818 and the link to the U6 as the only two ports.
