About this deal

As we’ve discussed, there are other factors that affect the effectiveness of a dehumidifier, including the type (desiccant models tend to have lower listed capacities but are more effective in cooler conditions) and temperature of the environment. This means a compressor dehumidifier is far more powerful and can offer a much higher extraction rate than a Peltier dehumidifier.

Blyss 16L WDH-316DB review - Which?

We also considered the size and weight of each appliance to find the most portable options, plus each model's noise levels. As the wheel turns, moisture drips into the tank, while the damp patches are heated to dry them out again, warming up the air. All that said, the Russell Hobbs RHDH2002 20L dehumidifier still impressed our review team during testing. Both a dehumidifier and air purifier in one compact unit, the curved design makes it look even smaller than it is, so it’ll effortlessly fit into your living space. At the other end of the spectrum, the most powerful dehumidifiers can have capacities of up to 25 litres per day. Keep it running all day long and the costs could mount up, but this is an excellent dehumidifier for situations where a refrigerant model just won’t work. This Russell Hobbs model can extract 20L of moisture from the air per day, and whilst it doesn't quite offer as much functionality as the comparable 20L MeacoDry Arete One (and can't beat the Meaco on energy efficiency) it is a cheaper upfront investment. That said, in our tests it also worked brilliantly during normal use, quickly reducing humidity and making fast work of drying wet washing. Some dehumidifiers have variable speeds so we check how much noise each one makes at its highest and lowest settings.

It can't quite beat the MeacoDry Arete One on overall performance, but if you're willing to put up with noisier operation and higher running costs in exchange for its powerful performance, then this Pro Breeze model will make short work of getting wet washing ready for the airing cupboard. We also didn’t find it that much help with drying clothes, although it did a good job of managing general damp and reducing condensation and mould on windows and walls. The unit isn't the lightest or most compact we've tested, but then we wouldn't expect that from a machine this powerful. Another great feature of this dehumidifier is it has an auto-stop feature when the tank is full, so you can leave this running when you’re not around and have no worries about it overflowing.

Blyss WDH-316DB 16Ltr Dehumidifier - Screwfix

It can take 10l of moisture out of the air each day, but one thing that is a little disappointing is that there’s only a 2. That means it's easy to find the right option for your home size, and the level of moisture control you need. This doesn’t mean you’ll need to empty it multiple times per day though, as it’s rare for a dehumidifier to extract its full capacity each day (extraction varies depending on temperature and humidity). One thing we really love is the inclusion of a timer, so, when it’s running in the bedroom, it can be timed to switch off just before bedtime and then start back up again in the morning. The higher the extraction rate the more powerful the machine will be, but generally also the larger, heavier, more expensive, and more expensive to run the dehumidifier will be.This EcoAir model can extract up to seven litres of moisture per day, and as a desiccant-type dehumidifier, it works at lower temperatures than your average refrigerant device. Most dehumidifiers have their noise levels listed in their specifications, although in practice we didn't find that much variation between models, with most falling somewhere between 35 and 45dB. Despite its small size, it can collect up to 500ml of water – ideal for small spaces, such as kitchens, bathrooms or even in damp spots such as under the stairs. Sleek, compact and complete with smart connectivity, this dehumidifier can remove up to 20l of water per day from your home. This dehumidifier also has an air purification function, thanks to the built-in UV light and TiO2 filter, which will remove any allergens from the air when the machine is in operation.
