About this deal

The sonic screwdriver hasn't always been a staple of Doctor Who - several "classic" series Doctors didn't carry the cure-all gadget; however, following Russell T. In fact, it didn't appear onscreen until Patrick Troughton had taken up the mantle of The Second Doctor. The main body of David Tennant’s screen-used prop is attached to the Sonic Screwdriver structure by three screws.

For further information on the features and operation of the Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver please see our online version of the full user manual, or you can download a printer friendly PDF version of the manual. The Sonic Screwdriver URC’s slider pad button incorporates a light pipe so that it can indicate charge status.

Although we are yet to discover all of the new Sonic’s abilities, like the Doctor himself, it has become ever more complex and mysterious. This multipurpose tool features numerous settings and can open most locks, detect all manner of deadly rays, read bio-signs and generate Sonic waves of great power. Double press and hold the button down to access another eleven buzzes, beeps and scanning sounds from the universe of Doctor Who, or leave the Sonic on its Gallifreyan stand to send out one of 12 Morse coded phrases from the Twelfth Doctor. If Doctor Who fans were asked to name icons from the series, most would probably name three things: The TARDIS, Daleks, and the Sonic Screwdriver.

His work is referenced, cited, or syndicated on CNN, Wikipedia, Huffington Post, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, Yahoo, and Business Insider, among others. The Sonic Screwdriver URC’s light-up blue tip is made from a blue, self-coloured, injection moulded acrylic. The Sonic has many features but only one button, and therefore requires a number of different button pressing sequences to access these features. We have taken great care to make this Sonic Screwdriver as accurate as possible to the actual hero prop that David Tennant used on screen. With the redesign came a whole new life for the tool which now became much more prevalent, appearing in almost every episode and boasting an expanded repertoire of tricks up its sleeve.

Further codes may be programmed onto any other gesture or reprogrammed over the existing code on the same gesture by repeating this process, without having to come out of Programming Mode each time a code has been learned. By the time the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) came onto the scene, the Sonic was on its way out again, and was written out of the show in season 19 after being destroyed in the episode "The Visitation. In the event that the Lock Code is forgotten, it may be erased completely by taking the batteries out and putting them back in again. To do the flick gestures (left, right, up and down), hold the Sonic Screwdriver steady and level and flick it sharply in the desired direction, moving the tip no more than about 10 cm (4″). Either way, based on Moffat and Capaldi's comments, it sounds as though the sonic screwdriver hasn't really gone away; instead, Doctor Who is just reveling in the silliness of wearable technology - indulging Moffat's sense of humor for a few episodes. In Control, Quite Control Mode, or programming Mode a quick triple press counts cycles you to the next memory bank. The Sonic may be extended either by gripping the knurled grey parts of the upper cage and pulling it away from the handle, or by carefully flicking it. The [Wand Company’s] Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control may not sink ships or triangulate the source of ghoulish ghosts, but it is a fully functioning replica and a must-have for aspiring Time Lords everywhere. In FX Mode a long button press makes the Sonic buzz and lights the tip for as long as the button is pressed.
