About this deal

So easy to use, cold water and 1 tablet, wait 15 minutes and add your items to be sterilised. I used them to sterislise bottles, dummies, toys, teethers and weaning plates and spoons. When you take the items out they always smell so clean and you know that they are ready to use." They also loved how convenient these tablets were when on holiday or away from home and they couldn't be easier to use. Full product specs

The weighted grid supplied keeps all the items under the water so they remain sterile for as long as they’re in the container (up to 24 hours). It’s important to make sure that there are no air bubbles trapped in the bottles or teats before leaving to sterilise. Once the required 15 minutes are up, each item can be shaken and used without further rinsing – though our tester found her baby equipment smelled of chlorine afterwards and felt hesitant about giving it to her baby (it’s perfectly safe to do so, but the smell is rather off-putting). Wash all items in clean, warm soapy water or use Milton Baby Bottle Cleaner, then rinse before using the sterilising solution. Drop 1 tablet into 5 litres of clean, cold water. Let the tablet dissolve to form the Sterilising Solution. Pop baby items into the Milton Sterilising Solution and ensure they are completely submerged for a minimum of 15 minutes to become sterilised. Solution is effective for 24 hours. Milton Sterilising Tablets are flexible for home use or if you are travelling, with the solution remaining effective for 24 hours. There is also no need to rinse the items before you give them to your baby. The tablets can be used to sterilise your baby feeding accessories and breastfeeding equipment, such as; breast pump parts, soothers, small plastic toys, teething rings, plastic cutlery, baby bottles and weaning items. How to Use Because maltitol is slowly absorbed by the body, part of the ingested substance reaches the large intestine where metabolism yields fewer calories. As a result, maltitol has just 2.1 calories per gram (kcal/g), nearly half of the caloric value of sucrose (4.0 kcal/g), and is therefore useful in the production of sugar-free products, especially sucrose-free chocolate, confectionery and ice cream.

Is the Milton Cold Water Steriliser easy to keep clean?

In warm soapy water (or with Milton baby bottle cleaner), ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned. All residues should be rinsed from the item, before using the sterilising tablets. In 5L of cold clean water, drop 1 tablet and leave to dissolve, this makes your sterilising solution. The items you wish to sterilise should be fully submerged in the solution for a minimum of 15 minutes, to ensure they are fully sterilised. Hazards and Cautions Produced by the hydrogenation of maltose, which is obtained from starch, maltitol produces a noticeable cooling sensation in the mouth and, like other Fergus, does not brown or caramelize when heated. Benefits of Maltitol Maltitol significantly reduces the rise in blood glucose and insulin levels associated with the ingestion of glucose as it is slowly absorbed. Overall, the Milton Cold Water Steriliser is incredibly straightforward and flexible for those using up a lot of bottles or expressing full-time. Just be aware that the solution will make your kitchen smell like a swimming pool, whether or not the lid is closed.

Our editors have highlighted these through research supported by the recommendations shared by our experienced parents in the BabyCentre Community. The product is easy to use. I'm impressed that it is useful for a full 5 litre tub of water as I did see some other boxes of tablets that only cover around 2.3 litres which is frustrating when most containers are 5 litres. I have always seen Milton to be the leaders in the sterilising industry, my parents always used Milton and other family members on their children."

Why Choose Us?

Maltitol and other polyols are recognised as reduced-calorie sweeteners/alternatives to sugar by the European Union (EU) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Beneficial for people with diabetes Also, because of how convenient and small they are, they're great for going on holiday's when you might not be able to take your big steriliser with you. In 1985, a comprehensive assessment of sweeteners was produced by the Scientific Committee for Food of the European Union (EU), which concluded that maltitol is safe for use as a food additive. In practice, the container doesn’t have any nooks and crannies and doesn’t collect dust, so it’s low-maintenance in the extreme. How does it look? Like other polyols, maltitol is non-cariogenic – i.e. is not metabolised by oral bacteria which break down sugars and starches to release acids that may lead to cavities or the erosion of tooth enamel

They also loved how reliable these sterilising tablets were, and love that Milton are such a trustworthy brand. Milton Sterilising Tablets have been created, to sterilise your baby’s items by using only cold water. This method of cleaning has been used for many years by parents and medical professionals alike. The tablets have been specifically formulated to kill 99.9% of germs. The process involves dissolving tablets or fluid into the container of water and submerging items in it for 15 minutes as per manufacturer guidelines – the NHS recommends 30 minutes. More items can be added as and when they’re used. As the Milton Cold Water Steriliser isn’t electric, it can be kept anywhere from the sink to the garden. It can also be thrown into a kitchen unit, the under-stairs cupboard or bathroom for storage, which our tester found appealing.Maltitol is part of a family of bulk sweeteners called sugar alcohols (polyols). It is about 90% as sweet as sugar (sucrose) and is very similar in taste, but boasts significantly less calories (only 2.1 calories per gram). If you wanted to, you could also use any volume of water in any clean container – as long as you use the correct number of tablets for the volume of water added. You won’t need to wash the container before first use as the fluid you’ll fill it with is, itself, sterile. Is the Milton Cold Water Steriliser safe? This oral health benefit of maltitol and other sugar alcohols is recognised by various health groups/associations across the globe. Fewer calories than sugar I used the tablets to sterilise some bottles whilst away. It made things a lot easier and meant I didn't have to take lots of equipment away with me. I have also used them for cleaning down surfaces like my child's toys. They worked particularly well on cleaning the straps on my highchair. I left them to soak overnight."
