About this deal

Harry Hole is the main character in Jo Nesbo’s series of ten crime novels. Harry is a police officer with the Oslo crime squad. His mother is deceased, he has a weak relationship with his father and his sister had Down Syndrome. Comparisons will inevitably be drawn by Aussie audiences between Norway's Nesbo and Swedish author Steig Larsson and the films based on the books of the two authors. I have read the Steig Larsson trilogy and seen all the Swedish films... and I would definitely say I prefer them.

Headhunters - Jo Nesbo

Headhunters will be a series in true Jo Nesbo spirit — a fast-paced mix of dark humor and thrills,” Hopland said in a statement. The Rubens belongs to Clas Greve, and that's not all Greve has to offer: the former CEO of a GPS technology company that was recently bought out, he is the perfect candidate to head up Pathfinder, who are searching for a new man to run the company; if Roger can land this scalp he'll really have it made.

Nesbo takes a break from his Harry Hole detective series . . . with this stellar stand-alone caper.. . . . The dizzying reversals of fortune and situations that would be over-the-top in lesser hands make for a delightful roller-coaster ride. Carl Hiaasen and Elmore Leonard fans will be delighted."-- Publishers Weekly (starred review) Of course, this is rubbish, but when I propose a candidate for a job I don’t do it because the person in question is the best but because he is the one the client will employ. I provide them with a head that is good enough, placed on the body they want. They are not qualified to judge the first; they can see the second with their own eyes. (c) NTB (18 August 2012). Το τέλος ήταν αρκετά καλό, με το «παιχνίδι μυαλού» που μας έπαιξε -και βλέπουμε για ακόμη μία φορά το πλεονέκτημα των βιβλίων έναντι των ταινιών- αλλά όχι και ιδιαίτερα δίκαιο. Αλλά να μου πεις, είναι πολλά πράγματα δίκαια σε αυτήν την κοινωνία; Άρα, λες ότι αντικατοπτρίζει και την πραγματικότητα. A Norwegian film based on the book by crime writer Jo Nesbo about a recruitment specialist with a chip on his shoulder and a sideline as an art thief.

Because there is nothing that makes a man grow beyond his own stature than a woman telling him she loves him.” Perfect satire on employment agencies, corporate bullshit, corruption, and the heinous side of capitalism, all couched behind a life-changing art theft. Wow. It has been a long time since I've seen a movie this good. The movie tells the story of Roger Brown, a headhunter who also has a side job as an art thief. His latest job goes wrong and things get out of control from there on. If I give any more of the plot, I will spoil the movie for you. And trust me, you don't want that. A big part of what I enjoyed about the movie is watching how crazy things go for Roger. Nesbo can out-write most of his Scandinavian colleagues. . . . Cleverly written and effectively composed, and you can easily devour it in one ravishing read." -- Nordjyske Stiftstidende (Denmark) Written under the pseudonym of Tom Johansen, Blood on Snow revolves around Olav Johansen, a cold-blooded killer with a heart of gold. Olav is a fixer for a high-profile crime kingpin in 1970s Oslo. He easily takes care of anyone who causes trouble for his boss. But he is more complicated than he seems. Olav’s latest job puts him at the pinnacle of his trade, but it may become his greatest mistake.

More about Jo Nesbo

Aksel Hennie stars as Roger, a headhunter for some high-end clients who supports his lavish lifestyle and picturesque wife (Synnøve Macody Lund) with a side business that involves multi-million-dollar art theft. Quite meticulous, Roger prides himself on a few rules and beliefs that have gotten him this far, and Hennie radiates a bold and confident exterior that clearly masks Roger's inner paranoia.

The acting was top notch from the 2 main actors, Aksel Hennie and Nikolaj Coaster-Waldau (who you may know as Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones). Synnøve Macody Lund who play Roger's wife Diana is beautifully good too. I hope she gets more prominent roles after this. I leaned forward. Opened my arms. Held up my palms. Sought his eyes. Research has proved that seventy-eight per cent of first impressions at interviews are based on body language and a mere eight per cent on what you actually say. The rest is about clothes, odours from armpits and mouth, what you have hanging on the walls. My body language was fantastic. And right now it was expressing openness and trust. Headhunters was the first Norwegian film to be nominated for a BAFTA (in the category Best Film Not in the English Language). Archived from the original on 14 October 2013 . Retrieved 3 April 2012. At first I have to say I read the novel of which this movie is based upon, "Headhunters" by Jo Nesbø, two years ago. A thriller I liked quite a lot. Usually a novel is better than the film. Well, here Morten Tyldum (Acclaimed films as "Buddy" and a short in "Most people usually live in China"), succeeded in making a film just as interesting and exciting as the book. Like [Stieg] Larsson, Nesbo explores the darkest criminal minds with grim delight and puts his killers where you least expect to find them. . . . [and] his novels are maddeningly addictive. Vanity Fair A clever and elegant portrait of the dark excesses of our corporate culture as revealed through a desperate cat-and-mouse game between figures reaching for the top of the heap. My moderate rating reflects only my personal level of pleasure, in the same way that I can admire a painting such as Munch’s “The Scream” without wanting to dwell with it very long. Description: With Headhunters, Jo Nesbø has crafted a funny, dark, and twisted caper story worthy of Quentin Tarantino and the Coen brothers. Roger Brown is a corporate headhunter, and he’s a master of his profession. But one career simply can’t support his luxurious lifestyle and his wife’s fledgling art gallery. At an art opening one night he meets Clas Greve, who is not only the perfect candidate for a major CEO job, but also, perhaps, the answer to his financial woes: Greve just so happens to mention that he owns a priceless Peter Paul Rubens painting that’s been lost since World War II—and Roger Brown just so happens to dabble in art theft. But when he breaks into Greve’s apartment, he finds more than just the painting. And Clas Greve may turn out to be the worst thing that’s ever happened to Roger Brown.

In the seventh installment of the Harry Hole series, the detective traces a killer who makes his own rules and he’ll break his pattern just to keep the game interesting. With brilliantly realized characters and hair-raising suspense, international bestselling author Jo Nesbo presents his most chilling case yet—one that will test Harry Hole to the very limits of his sanity. waited and hoped. Perhaps it was a good start to the day after all, perhaps I could shout at an idiot. Also, some of the scenes may be too difficult for the squeamish to watch. Not exessive, but just a little over the top. Tyldum's balancing of the dark humor and clever, almost caper-like elements of "Headhunters" with the true drama and suspense gets a little exposed toward the end of the movie. Granted the story reveals itself to be an absolutely wild ride late in the game with a neat and tidy ending to things, but the tone in the ending moments didn't have to reflect that to a T. Wrapping with a wink and smile somewhat undermined the well-developed character drama, as if the writers who adapted the book were unaware that it would be as well-acted as it was. Headhunters has the same Nordic take though - a bit of casual nudity and sex, striking tall beautiful people, Ikea-style interior design and of course, subtitles.
