So overall if you can get past the size of these speakers you will be impressed by the sound especially when simply using them to listen to music. Yes, they could be an alternative to a soundbar and do a decent job however it’s not their main purpose they are designed to enjoy sweet music. Next, my job was to test the S2000MKIII’s capabilities where it comes to TV watching. Having used them for almost two weeks, they’re certainly an adequate replacement for a soundbar. Please DO NOT use these as desktop speakers for the following reasons. They are simple not designed for that. For the sound test I watched the film Fury. I had the speakers on Dynamic mode. This really brought the movie to life and you could hear the sound moving around the room when a tank drove from right to left on screen.
The sound is churned out via planar diaphragm tweeters and 5.5-inch woofers, with 15W of power delivered to the tweeters and 50W reserved for the woofers. Powering that sound is a Class-D digital amp. A dual DSP digital processor is used to manage crossover for frequencies. It uses two chips to independently manage treble and the medium-bass channels. This is different from AirPulse, which uses the XMOX chip to do digital crossover tasks.

It works – the volume and power levels make it exciting and the sound does fill the room – it just veers more towards (sound) muscle than brains. On my list of today’s comparisons is “ Edifier S2000MKIII vs S3000Pro”. Edifier has been around in the audio niche for quite some time now and their game is getting really strong. They have introduced some high-quality, budget speakers one after another. Appearance: S2000MKIII: The front of the speakers has a grille but it is removable, although you need to apply quite a bit of force to do that. The grilles can make the speakers look ugly, thankfully you do not have to keep them on if you don’t like the look. In terms of negatives, the main one with these speakers is the size and weight they are massive and very heavy so please consider where you will have them. The size is not for everyone but for the audiophile these issues won’t be a problem. Having watched Spider-Man: Far From Home, there was very little nuance to the sound, with music, effects and speech all smashed together into one big sphere of sound around me. It gives a more enjoyable truer sound. Placed either side of my TV the sound feels like it’s coming at you from right in the middle, it’s a really great experience. Overall these are really well made and Edifiers fantastic build quality in there for all to see. Where Can I Buy The Edifier S2000MKIII? An included remote control often accompanies most Edifier bookshelf speakers, it’s a bit hit and miss sometimes though. But I’m pleased to say this time it’s a big win. The remote is fantastic and well built. It doesn’t seem like an after thought at all. The power cable is built into the speaker, and you can’t disconnect it or replace it – so you need to be extra careful not to damage it. Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room.
The degree of versatility they offer is welcome, making them a decent alternative to a soundbar for a TV and the Hi-res audio support and stylish build quality makes them a pleasure to listen to and look at. You shouldn’t buy the Edifier S2000MKIII Active speakers if…With S3000Pro frequency separation is balanced and clear, with little to no overlap between the drivers. Note separation and imaging is impeccable as is an excellent depth of field. The tonality of the S3000 Pro speakers is rich and has depth when blended with the bass register.
