About this deal

Exclusive New Audio Commentaries – With Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant, Alexei Sayle & Terry Molloy on Revelation Of The Daleks and Colin Baker, Janet Fielding & Gareth Jenkins on A Fix With Sontarans. In the end, the only thing more chilling than seeing the Daleks on Skaro, was bringing them to Earth. In some cases, visual effects have been improved - improved exterior shots of the Pharos Project were used to replace models in some instances, including brand-new location shots filmed using drones. As with such improvements on the DVD range, these changes are optional and can be enabled or disabled at will. Serials have also been remixed in 5.1 surround where possible.

On Season 22, Timelash probably has the most glitches. The upscaling and noise reduction has damaged the original video effects, and shots with the new effects are at the wrong resolution (704 vs 720 pixels issues I think, for those of a nerdy disposition). You’ll notice horizontal picture size changing, and because the cut to the alternative shot isn’t always frame accurate you may spot the adjustment taking place early. This is easily fixable and avoidable, even if the people who did the CG got their figures wrong. But no one bothered – perhaps because it’s Timelash?

For instance, season 18 also included K9 and Company, having aired in the gap between seasons 18 and 19, and season 19 included Time Crash. Notably, Season 17 included the 2017 animated reconstruction of Shada, split into six separate episodes as opposed to its initial feature-length release. Dennis Spooner is a fantastic writer who knew how to blend comedy and drama. I don’t know if that ability has ever been more apparent than in The Romans. Only available as part of the Cybermen box set in Regions 2 and 4. Only available individually in Region 1.

All existing episodes from otherwise missing Second Doctor serials have been released on the Lost in Time collection, with the exceptions of: The Underwater Menace episode 2 and The Web of Fear episodes 2, 4, 5 and 6, which were recovered after the release of Lost in Time; The Ice Warriors and The Invasion which had their missing episodes animated for its DVD release. The collection also included episode 3 of The Enemy of the World, which (at the time of the collection's release) was the only extant episode from that serial. Lost in Time was released in two formats in Region 1, with individual releases for Volumes 1 and 2 (which cover First Doctor and Second Doctor episodes, respectively), as well as an edition combining both volumes. In Regions 2 and 4, Lost in Time is available only as the combined single volume.
