About this deal

Struggling emotions, mental health, and an overall sense of inner turmoil are pervasive themes throughout the novel.

I also wrote a review for this book in 2012 when it was self published as "Straightling." I want to include it in this review (I hope thats ok). Here is what I wrote then: At the center is protagonist Chandler Morrison who is often seen grappling with her own personal demons while attempting to cope with the death of her mother.Honestly, DEAD INSIDE has a Tarantino-esque quality about it in the sense that it is SO over-the-top offensive, SO over-the-top disgusting that it's *almost* funny.

My own, personal experience was that I was totally grossed out by like 80% of this book. However, Morrison's writing is engaging. I found myself skimming over some of the more detailed accounts of specific actions, just to get to the parts where the characters were having a dialog about their feelings or the story had progressed past points of discomfort and I wanted to see what was going to happen. The book’s narrative style is analytical and insightful but also engaging, making it accessible to a wide range of readers regardless of their enjoyment level. Are there any other books by Chandler Morrison? From the outside, Straight Inc. was a drug rehab. But on the inside it was...well, it was something else. I received this in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. Thank you to the author, Cyndy Drew Etler, and the publisher, Sourcebooks Fire, for this opportunity. If you don't feel like visiting my blog, you can see videos online that show what it was like inside these institutions. Here's one. There are so many available and I do have more on my blog. His writing style is characterized by an analytical approach to character development that invites readers on an engaging journey of liberation.

A thorough examination of the characters in this work reveals a remarkable level of complexity and depth unparalleled by many other works. This is a memoir chronicling Cyndy's teenage years. She wasn't a bad kid and she wasn't a perfect kid, she was just an average one. She struggled to belong in her own skin and to find her own crowd. Every bad decision she ever made was one calculated to allow her to fit in. But what Cyndy soon realised was that every one of these decisions came at a price. Was she often misguided? Yes. Did she deserve the way her life panned out? Definitely not. It offers diverse perspectives on the main theme of liberation from societal conventions, allowing readers to explore their own subconscious desires for freedom. Through its exploration of the human experience and emotions, Dead Inside provides readers with an insight into how individuals cope with pain and suffering when life throws unexpected situations their way.Through understanding these aspects of Dead Inside, readers can gain insight into their own inner turmoil and subconscious desire for liberation. Overview of the Novel Through its exploration of mental health issues, it brings attention to how we can find strength within ourselves instead of relying solely on external sources for comfort or relief. Exploration of Human Emotion This story will take you into the bowels of one of the most destructive (and yet "successful") centers the US has ever had- and it was supported by Nancy Reagan and her "Just Say No" campaign. For readers of Girl Interrupted and Tweak, Cyndy Etler's gripping memoir gives readers a glimpse into the harrowing reality of her sixteen months in the notorious "tough love" program the ACLU called "a concentration camp for throwaway kids." It is clear from reading this book that Chandler Morrison has crafted an insightful look into the complex world of human emotions and how those can both empower and cripple us in equal measure.

Chandler Morrison’s works have been met with both critical acclaim and reader reactions, as his writing style is noted for its emotional depth and insight into mental health topics. His work is praised for being analytical yet engaging, as it speaks to the subconscious desire for liberation in its audience. The central theme of Dead Inside is a powerful inner struggle that examines the complexity of mental health. It delves into the topics of self-realization, understanding and accepting one’s own identity, and how to cope with personal struggles. Throughout the novel, Morrison skillfully weaves themes such as courage in facing death, fulfilling one’s destiny despite obstacles, and discovering strength even in moments of weakness. As Nate moves forward on his path towards liberation from his inner darkness and anxieties, he learns how to accept life for what it is—a powerful reminder for all those looking for solace in times of despair. Besides that, as a metalhead, I did enjoy the Cannibal Corpse (fitting) reference as I love that death metal band. Morrison’s writing style is pretty good and honestly, this book will take you into the mind of a psychopath, a sociopath, basically someone that would have their own documentary that would be even crazier and creepier than anything you’ll see about Jeffrey Dahmer.
