In addition to these three modes, the application will allow you to update the headphones’ firmware and display their battery level. You can also update the sound profile if the one you initially configured – for volume or clarity level – needs to be more efficient. For general music or podcast listening Conversation Clear Plus provided a broad and clear audio streaming quality. I was happy to find that the distortions mentioned above during general use were not present. The earbuds also provided considerable overall isolation which made for a more immersive listening experience. However, the ability to choose between isolation or ambient balance within the app was useful depending on the environment.What's more, is the ease of use - setup seems to be incredibly simple and there's plenty of extra guidance to help you along, particularly within the adjoining smartphone app which has step-by-step directions and a useful FAQ link.

We're glad Conversation Clear Plus is getting some awareness here, but recognize it's not what this circle will choose first for their application. The company with the Sennheiser name on it is everywhere you find audio.

Battery life is around nine hours in the earbuds themselves, with a further two full charges in the case; from flat to full takes around five hours using the case’s USB-C input. The headphones are also in the in-ear format and are therefore supplied with three pairs of silicone tips. The oval-shaped ear tips allow you to adapt the earphones to the shape of your ear canal. The Conversation Clear app provides sound customization and wireless control over the earbuds. The devices can be put in a pairing mode by pressing the touch control button located on the outer face for four seconds. The app will then establish a connection and prompt you through various screens familiarizing you with the devices and proper placement in your ears. The final step of onboarding guides you through two personalization listening tasks where you set your preferences for both volume and clarity. In concrete terms, the relax mode is the one that will offer active noise reduction with a gauge allowing 0 to 100% of external sounds to pass through. You'll also be able to use the Conversation Clear Plus to take and make phone calls, which is a pretty handy addition to the feature set because you won't need to rely on your smartphone's speaker system to hear the person on the other end. In concrete terms, the relax mode will analyse the ambient sounds captured by the microphones and perform a phase inversion so that you don’t hear them through the headphones. In other words, this mode will allow you to adjust the external sounds from 0 to 100%. After onboarding is completed you gain full access to the app and the three user modes for relaxation, communication, and audio streaming. The first mode, Relax, is designed for comfort and provides user controls over external sounds from 0 (max reduction) to 100% (normal ambience). Like hearing aids, Conversation Clear Plus are designed to make it easier to understand speech in noisy environments. However, Conversation Clear Plus offer limited volume when compared to prescription or OTC hearing aids, and this means they won't be a suitable alternative to a hearing aid unless you're at the earliest stages of losing your hearing. True wireless earbuds that are primarily designed to help with hearing difficulties rather than to stream music are becoming more common, and the Sennheiser Conversation Clear Plus come from one of the biggest, most credible brands around. They come at a price, though – and even before they’re set up and doing their thing, it’s hard to understand why they’re as expensive as they are. They’re perfectly adequately built and finished, but they look and feel a lot more ordinary than the asking price suggests they should. Nevertheless, there’s still an unnatural tone to some voices. Some people sounded fine and much like themselves, while others sounded sharper, treading on sibilance (particularly with a female voice) and making their voice sound strained. Though I was able to hear conversations really clearly, when it came to having a conversation, I found the earbuds were somewhat of a barrier. Even with non-noise cancelling headphones, I automatically want to take my earphone out to have a conversation, and that’s because your own voice sounds amplified when you have something in your ear. That’s even more the case with these in, as they completely seal your ear.
