About this deal

These pencils have a strong pigment core that ensures consistent and vivid color application, allowing adult colorists to achieve the desired level of saturation in their artwork. The price point on these pencils in my mind are very reasonable given, their intended purpose which I will cover next. Their Intended Use – Awesome for Sketching! However, the Col-Erase are being sold as colored pencils that can be erased and on the bases that they have their own eraser attached to each individual pencil, you would be forgiven for thinking that as I have mentioned, the eraser was specially formulated to lift the pigment, or the pigment had a resin specific to the pencil allowing the attached eraser to lift the pigment better, but this was not what I discovered. Conclusion

Col-Erase REVIEW】 Sketching in COLOR? A MUST TRY! 【Prismacolor Col-Erase REVIEW】

Prismacolor has received notable accolades and awards, although specific information about awards for these products is not provided. The second influence is an instructor at Gage Academy, Kathleen Moore, whose subject area is about as different from Barry’s as you can get: drawing and painting nature. I’ve taken several classes from her, and in the current one using colored pencils, she, too, recommends a non-photo blue pencil. Also, you can use more than one color when sketching to make decisions about color and shading for your project as done in my lotus sketch. I think this brand has been far to criticized and to let you all know, Yes, they came unsharpened. I was glad they came this way. I know what sharpener to use & how to use it right & that makes all the difference! Still, that’s better than trying to erase regular colored pencil. The eraser does erase cleanly and you could use vinyl white erasers as well. Blush Pink: A delicate and soft shade of pink, Blush Pink is perfect for adding a subtle touch of color to artwork.

The pencils are made with a wax-based lead that helps prevent breakage during the sharpening process. Some artists and kids have mentioned that it does take just a little bit of force to really bring out the bold colors. However, with regular pressure, you should have no problem seeing the marks (especially if you are using these in a journal). Yes! They do erase but erase best on light applications. Trying to erase a heavier application will lift it, but it will not erase completely. (The same can be said for graphite as well, though.) Thank you for reading. On the other hand, the Scholar pencils have a slimmer barrel, making them suitable for users with smaller hands or those who prefer a more delicate grip. The lighter weight of the Scholar pencils also allows for easy maneuverability and precise control. The rounded barrel shape of the Scholar pencils provides a comfortable grip, reducing strain on the hand and fingers. When laying down the color it was really difficult to tell if they were wax or oil based, the Col-Erase were neither soft and creamy or hard, but at the same time you could tell that they were not your average dollar store colored pencils. Incidentally the Col-Erase are a wax based pencil, but not as soft and creamy as the Premier. As a result, erasing mistakes with these pencils may be a bit more challenging and could potentially damage the paper if not done carefully. For those who want to expand a child’s creative imagination with other mediums yet still want the safety qualities of Crayola, then these erasable colored pencils make perfect sense.

The pencil leads of Prismacolor Col-Erase Erasable Colored Pencils are known for their exceptional strength and resilience. Competing head to head with the Tombow’s – this 12/24 pencil set is the perfect offering for those who are looking for a colored pencil for either journaling or note taking. Prismacolor makes a brand of erasable colored pencils called Prismacolor Col-Erase that you can buy individually or in a set of 12 or 24. I haven't used these myself but they are designed to be erasable, although they probably won't be able to erase down to the pure white (or whatever color) of your paper - I imagine there will be some faint tint of the color left on the paper. Even so, they are far more erasable than most colored pencils. This makes them a great option for students and beginners who are just learning how to use colored pencils, because you can practice freely without worrying about making any irreversible mistakes! The minimal color selection is another reason not to use these for professional colored pencil artwork. With only 24 maximum, you really are limited. Both artists use a blue pencil for lightly sketching the initial line drawing before inking (in Barry’s case) or using colored pencils (in Moore’s case). Their reasons are similar: While not invisible to modern cameras, non-photo blue lines are so subtle and pale that they tend to magically blend and disappear once the final medium is applied. In addition, lightly applied pale blue pencil is easily erased. Moore demonstrated another practical reason: If an initial drawing is made with graphite, almost all of it must be carefully erased before applying colored pencil. If any large particles of graphite remain, they could smudge, muddying the colors. The Col-Erase Pencils excel in producing vibrant and rich colors. The pigments are bold, allowing for a visually stunning final result. You have to work a little harder at it if you layer. You have to lay down about 4 layers to get the colors to blend, where the non-erasable premier blends with just two layers. The color palette is very basic, which is what you would expect from a set containing only 24 colors, so the next big question would be how they perform? Perhaps their performance can help one over look the small palette, allowing for a reasonable blending experience, bearing in mind however that we are dealing with colored pencils here and not watercolor, there is only so much you can do with regards to blending. Col-Erase Performance I want to be totally fair to these pencils and just say this – even the company who makes them does not tout them as pencils that you can create beautiful colored pencil art with. But what makes these better than most colored pencils is that the eraser on the top will help to prevent any frustration should mistakes occur (a common problem kids have with markers and crayons). Bottom Line

With a smooth stroke that comes from the firm lead, you can get precise lines when doing any sort of animation or illustration work. These pencils are highly recommended for artists, professionals, and anyone seeking reliable and long-lasting colored pencils. First, I tested them on my Col-o-Ring Oversize pad, which is slightly toothy. Erasing tests were done with a Tombow Mono Zero and a standard gray kneadable eraser. The second (scanned) image shows the differences a bit better, since they are all quite pale.

Col-Erase Sets

I think the Prismacolor Col-Erase would be perfect for school grade children, young children drawing diagrams or art whilst at school and likely to make a lot of mistakes and although as I have mentioned, any eraser will lift or remove colored pencil pigment just as well as the Col-Erase, I think in this example, the matter is convenience.
