About this deal

Why is it vital to evaluate certain qualities while selecting the best product for your requirements and circumstances?

The innovative AquaDura® coating grants crystal clear vision in any weather and protects the lenses from scratches or abrasion. Raindrops simply roll off. Dirt and fingerprints are easily wiped away.

The most effective ones have indeed been proven to work. Prior to purchasing things, do some research on best 8x50 binoculars. Here are some questions to consider. I plan to 3D print my own finder once I decide what I want. I'll get a used 50mm lens. Aluminum diagonal unless my 19 mm amici prism is big enough. And then choosing an eyepiece is the next issue. An ES 68 deg 24mm would give the views I want, but also would be heavy and require bringing out the eyepiece. Maybe a good storage place for it. After nearly 100 hours of research, we were able to come up with many top products from prominent brands. Among them, Opticron Discovery WP PC Mg 8x50 Binocularseems to be the first product you can rely on. Alternatively, if you're simply looking for a good-looking option, you may go with Celestron – SkyMaster DX 8x56mm Binoculars – Premium Outdoor. I would not hesitate to go for the 8x50 BA. Although a bit dimmer (about 6%) than Ultravid due to its silver rather than dielectric prism coatings, in low light the large exit pupil will supercede the few percent transmission difference. If it's dark enough that your pupils open even as far as 5.5mm, it should surpass in brightness any 8x42 made. Also, something that is increasingly important to me, in bright daylight the reduced pupil of the eye will effectively stop the 8x50 down from its native focal ratio of about f/4 to about f/12, which reduces all aberrations by more than the same effect does in smaller exit-pupil binoculars. This effect has been remarked on by Henry Link regarding his 8x56 Zeiss FL, and I believe it is responsible for much of the high performance of my 7x50 Fujinon FMT-SX porro.

So, for a finder, 60 degrees is easily doable and cheap. It would help find stuff. But the finder is mounted. You are more likely to notice the edge astigmatism when you keep the scope still. Also, Erfles have less eye relief. Hand held, holding them against your face stabilizes them. Mounted, bumping the eyepiece shakes the view. Kelners have more eye relief, more even than Plossls for the same field of view. Just returned from a trip to the outskirts of Warsaw to experience observation through my bino in total darkness with no lights. It was even more then I have expected. I could see details of what was on few meadows that were completly covered with darkeness, plain awesome. Also when observing during daylight, amaizing sharpeness and depth of field. Shouldn't be a problem for owling or hunting, but you probably wouldn't want them to tighten the focuser on your 8x32 model, which you probably focus with a lot more.Whether you are a casual observer or a dedicated hobbyist, everyone benefits from having a pair of top-quality binoculars. These compact devices bring distant objects into focus clearly and allow even novice naturalists to see details they might not have noticed. In this thread, http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=116599, there is some discussion of the Trinovid coatings, which changed throughout the lifetime of the BA and BN models, not necessarily with the model change. There is also another thread, titled "Trinovid Coatings" I think, that you might want to search out, that discusses the coating evolution. Aside from slight differences in color balance, and presumably transmission or why bother, at some point the exterior coatings were changed to be harder and more resistant to abuse and cleaning. Ron has done a good job of reviewing the differences between the Leica BA and BN models, so I won't repeat anything he said except to agree that if the differences in focus limits are not important to you, I don't think that the coatings improved so much over the course of BA-BN manufacture that I'd be all that concerned about the difference between an older BA and newer BN. Is there any way to determine when these 8x50s were made? The best way would be to send a private message to Birdforum member garymh - note that Gary may take a while to respond because of work commitments. The Ultravid HD-Plus 50 binoculars are specifically designed to give you a clear view of your target even in dim light - from dusk and into the night. They deliver excellent contrast and an image brightness that, when combined with their large lenses, make the Ultravid HD-Plus 50 the per fect binoculars for hunting in the darkest conditions. The main change between BA and BN was a resetting of the focus mechanism to give closer focus. But, since the range of motion of the mechanism was not changed, the distance "past infinity", or the accomodation to nearsightedness, was reduced. As you can see from the light transmission measurements the FL has 5-7% higher light transmission than either of the others. I find that much difference in brightness, while not exactly overwelming, is easily seen in a direct comparison. The difference in image brightness in any light was quite obviuos to me between the 8x56FL and the 8x50 Ultravid.
