About this deal

The concept seem simple at first (even our 5 year old enjoys and understands it), but as you progress and open more envelopes, the additional rules make the game far more tactical. Either way, the game board is nicely made. The artwork is fantastic, "like it's from a movie". I love that the main characters are diverse and I definitely resonate with the chubby kid in terms of...no spoilers! Zombie Kidz Evolution Overview

If a horde reaches a building, that building is overrun and the zombies build a trampoline. They can use this trampoline to overrun the next building if they move again before you defeat them. Roll the dice and add a zombie card to the board area matching the dice colour (5 board areas, 5 colours on the dice and one blank, which means no zombie that turn)

Most zombie stories end with the survivors escaping their current predicament into a hopefully brighter future somewhere else. Hit Z Road dares to continue the story on the road - specifically a cross-country road trip across the undead-infested Route 66 in the United States. Road trip! The original game is an excellent way to introduce younger kids to cooperative games, and in fact got an honorable mention in our top 6 games for younger kids. Because the group wins or loses together I could coach my kids and teach them tactical decision-making and strategy. Depending on your choices and the roll of the die, games usually take around 5-10 minutes, which is perfect for younger kids’ attention spans. On the strategy level, new abilities keep the game fresh and ever changing. It starts slow and simple, and each envelope adds a layer of complexity, but the progression is gradual and allows children to work their way up to a quite complex game one step at a time. The changes never feel unfair, and you won’t always win. But we never find it frustrating. The Walking Dead: All Out War: The infamous characters of Robert Kirkman's comic book series wage miniature war across an undead-filled battlefield.

Zombie Teenz Evolution works perfectly well as a standalone game, but it is also a very good sequel. The Walking Dead: All Out War A miniatures war game set in Robert Kirkman's comic-book universe Drawing from the Walking Dead comics rather than the TV show, All Out War captures the series' struggle for survival. Featuring no fewer than five rulebooks, automated zombies and a lengthy play time, Dawn of the Zeds works particularly well as a solo game. In fact, the original version of Dawn of the Zeds was designed specifically for one player to handle all the actions, events and movement. The most recent third edition includes cooperative as well as competitive gameplay modes for up to five players. If you’ve played the original Zombie Kidz then the mechanics of this game will be familiar to you. I’m not going to go deep into gameplay, but I will cover the basics. Also this will be a mostly spoiler-free review, with one or two high-level exceptions. I’ll make a point of calling those out when I get to them and you can choose to skip over them if you like.

Younger folk in the family will love the excitement of opening up these envelopes to see what’s inside and then immediately want to try out the new stuff. Which is doable as each game takes around 15 minutes. The cooperative nature encourages working and discussing things as a team. You win, or lose, together and it is therefore less likely to end with a bad loser. Despite its potential complexity, the game is highly customisable with multiple difficulty levels that greatly alter the gameplay and add entirely new mechanics - hence all the rulebooks. If you like the zombie genre but want your tabletop gaming with a bit more meat on its bones, Dawn of the Zeds is the zombie board game for you.Final Score: 5 Stars – A perfect “big kids” game. Legacy-game envelopes give them a reason to want to play over and over. Go grab your team of heroes and go smash some zombies!FIRST LEGACY GAME FOR KIDS: The simple base rules become more complex every time you play, leveling up as you gain more experience. Gameplay doesn't get much simpler than Zombie Dice, which consists of one cup and 13 dice.
